File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:TheskylineofDortmund.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 06:03, 4 July 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 06:03, 4 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for uploading File:TheskylineofDortmund.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

Hi I noticed a similar issue with File:Rotterdam Skyline.JPG. Looking at the specification of that file I see two potential problems.
First of all, as the automated messages above imply you have not filled out all the information about who holds copyright in the Wikipedia format. This seems a bit of a bureaucracy and going against the encyclopedia that everyone can edit, but in the case of images this is essential. The problem is that most images that are around are made by someone, and according to many laws may fall under copyright protection i.e. we have to pay the owner of the copyright bigtime to use it, or face legal problems. Wikipedia want to avoid legal problems at all times and therefore is extremely strict with copyright.
Secondly you claim you made the images yourself. But according to copyright law this is only the case if you actually made the photographs you combined into these images yourself. Combining existing photographs does not exempt the collage from copyright protection of the originals.
Can you please carefully reconsider these images. Thanks Arnoutf (talk) 17:37, 13 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of U-Bahn Dortmund

edit

A tag has been placed on U-Bahn Dortmund requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. License tagging for File:Westfalenpark dortmund-city.PNG

Thanks for uploading File:Westfalenpark dortmund-city.PNG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description.   Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did with this edit to Latvian people, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. JamesBWatson (talk) 18:48, 12 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please stop replacing referenced information with your own unreferenced figures. The user above has already asked you not to do this. If you continue to do this it may be considered disruptive editing. If you disagree with the figures, find a reliable source which lists the figures which you want to add. Valenciano (talk) 17:17, 13 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Can I ask you yet again, to please stop adding unreferenced and inaccurate info to Wikipedia? An example is your edit here:German and Ladin aren't official languages in Italy as shown in the Ethnologue report. I'm also disappointed that you continue to add incorrect population figures for the number of Latvians in Latvia, even ignoring the reference in there which is the latest census figures from the Latvian Central Statistics Bureau. Before making any further edits like that, I'd advise you to read WP:VERIFY especially Wikipedia:Verifiability#Burden_of_evidence. Valenciano (talk) 18:35, 17 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:RTL2 Germany.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading File:RTL2 Germany.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude2 (talk) 06:30, 2 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

edit

I undid your changes to the article. You can change the number of native speakers only if you provide (newer) sources - the ones that are cited now don't support your edit! --Six words (talk) 07:47, 2 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

When changing articles, please make sure the sources you cite are reliable. http://www.weltsprachen.net/ seems to be a personal website, so it isn't an acceptable source. If you're unsure whether a source is or isn't reliable, you can ask for opinions on the article discussion page. Also make sure to include the source you're using in the article (see WP:CITE) - simply changing the number makes it look like you're trying to fasify sources! --Six words (talk) 12:48, 3 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

You have misrepresented the size of the Asian Australian population in 2011 as being 6%, 7%, and 6-8% at different times, directly contradicting the current sources which show it is 12%. The source you posted to the contrary was from 1995, but you represented it as being from the 2011 census.

This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. SumomousefoxSumomousefox (talk) 01:00, 8 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked temporarily from editing for persistent disruptive editing, including edit warring, editing to push a point of view, changing content so that it does not reflect cited sources, removing sources without apparent reason, and adding spurious sources (e.g. a source dated 1995 to support your claims about an event which took place in 2011). Your own conviction that you are "right" does not over-ride what sources say, even if you are convinced those sources are wrong. I also see that you feel free to insert different figures for the same supposed statistic on different occasions, without any evident reason.. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
