You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on St. Theodore Guerin High School. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. John from Idegon (talk) 16:30, 5 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Tdawg25. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article St. Theodore Guerin High School, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. John from Idegon (talk) 16:31, 5 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please note that this user has self identified on my talk page as Thomas P. Connelly and has also edited my talk page with the same self identification using IP 208.119.135.253, an IP assigned to Educational Networks of America. Hmmm. John from Idegon (talk) 19:44, 5 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
That IP was blocked by Drmies yesterday for an edit summary that had to be revision deleted. Nice. Bishonen | talk 16:10, 13 September 2018 (UTC).Reply
Da fuq? Yes, I remember that edit. Grrr. Bishonen, please see below, and please accept my apologies for this man's boorish behavior. Drmies (talk) 23:16, 14 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

You still have not responded or taken action to the inquiry regarding your appearance as an undisclosed paid editor. If you make any additional edits without complying you may be blocked from editing. John from Idegon (talk) 15:41, 13 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Looks like you are socking with the IP I just blocked and edit warring. Care to explain.-- Dlohcierekim (talk) 15:50, 13 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

And the IP you are known to have used has been blocked for general nastiness, see above. You may explain that too if you wish. But more importantly, please don't edit again, either from this account or from any IP, without first responding to the disclosure request above. WP:PAID is a policy with legal considerations. Bishonen | talk 16:14, 13 September 2018 (UTC).Reply

Several of the figures John is making changes to are incorrect. For example, he is changing the tuition and enrollment figures which are past dated. Also, he is making changes to the athletic section, some of which I can see are correct, but when anyone else tries to make an edit he will automatically change back to his original edit. It seems he only feels he is correct and doesn't allow any collaborative effort.

Bishonen I feel like that comment is nasty and threatening. I would appreciate if you would let this conversation be among the parties involved.

  • Would you? I'm a Wikipedia administrator, like Dlohcierekim. I noticed what happened at the article, and have been discussing it with John and Dlohcierekim. Admins are like that: interfering. BTW, you can sign your comments by typing four tildes, ~~~~ , at the end of your posts. It will be converted to your name and timestamp when you save. Bishonen | talk 16:27, 13 September 2018 (UTC).Reply

Thank you I didn't know that trick. Tdawg25 (talk) 16:32, 13 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Always fun to learn something new. Tdawg25 (talk) 16:33, 13 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

I enjoy editing that page and feel like John could be of a big help too if we worked together instead of him just being all or nothing, his way or the highway. If we showed respect to one another and worked together in a collaborative way I think the page would be better. Tdawg25 (talk) 16:34, 13 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please don't evade the now repeated questions about conflict of interest and paid editing. If you are employed by the school, that makes you a paid editor. I give you for the third time a link to WP:PAID. Please read it. Another trick you may like: threaded discussion using colons. Bishonen | talk 17:23, 13 September 2018 (UTC).Reply
I would appreciate if you would let this conversation be among the parties involved. Really!? In my experience, that's the sort of remark I get from school yard bullies and thugs. People who would rather not have their actions lit by the light of day or objective, disinterested third parties. Especially those with the power to arrest their actions. You just blew my AGF to smithereens with a 75mm HEAT round. At this point, fully endorse blocking for WP:UPE and WP:NOTHERE.-- Dlohcierekim (talk) 17:37, 13 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Wow talk about school yard bullies and thugs. That's exactly how you two are making me feel. I have Bishonen telling me to not evade the questions when I have no affiliation whatsoever to this institution, but at least he uses kind wording such as "please" and sounds somewhat respectful. On the other hand, Dlohcierekim, I don't even know what to say to you... making assumptions about my character when you don't even know me. Endorsing a block. If you are trying to be cruel and hurtful towards me, congratulations you have succeeded. Seems a bit irresponsible as an admin and just mean in general, as a human being. Especially, when at first I didn't know Bishonen was also an admin. Tdawg25 (talk) 17:53, 13 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

So you didn't like learning to do threaded discussion. Very well. Could you please state visibly, either in a separate section or at the end of the section "Managing a conflict of interest" above, that you have "no affiliation whatsoever" to St. Theodore Guerin High School? It doesn't have to be phrased any special way, but please just make it clear that you're not employed by the school nor a student there, if that is indeed the case, in a separate statement, as opposed to in a throwaway subclause in a complaint that people are being mean to you.   You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at St. Theodore Guerin High School. John from Idegon (talk) 18:41, 13 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

The information was sourced. Here you can find updated enrollment, tuition, student to teacher ratios:http://www.guerincatholic.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/SchoolProfile_2017-18.pdf

You are using old data that is incorrect. You just want to monopolize this page and be the only person making edits. It is very unfortunate that you are not making the page fulfill it's potential. Tdawg25 (talk) 18:58, 13 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

You have removed huge sections on the page, such as service and facts about the fine arts program. You removed headers in the athletics section. The way you list the varsity sports offered and the state championships together doesn't look good and is hard for the reader to read. Tdawg25 (talk) 19:03, 13 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

If don't allow the general public to make edits or other users to update information (citing updated sources) I can assure you the page will probably be edited. Tdawg25 (talk) 19:05, 13 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

You keep saying the same things over and over. This page is not FOR the school to report information they wish reported. The entire purpose of an encyclopedia is to summarize what reliable secondary sources say about a given subject. The most up to date numbers are not what is important. The reliable secondary source is. Please explain why my edits hinder the potential of this article (it is not a "page", that is what social media has. This is not social media). The only thing I see happening is your repeated attempts to hijack two related articles to use for the subject's purposes, rather than helping to maintain neutral encyclopedia articles. Further, your repeated attempts to claim ownership of the article (which you clearly did, earlier today) are in violation of behavioral standards here. I, as a totally neutral and detached editor, am making the article in question into an encyclopedia article from the social media/fanpage without any real verification that it has again turned into. You, with your edit history that consists almost exclusively of less than productive edits to two connected institutions, do not appear to have the same motivation. After your exchange with two administrators today, whose viewpoint do you think the community is going to endorse? John from Idegon (talk) 19:12, 13 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

hy will you not allow a header about the Guerin vs. Brebeuf rivalry? Why no header above the other rivalries? Why no state championship header? Why no service section? Why take away huge sections about the fine arts program? Why have inaccurate facts about the school? Personally, IMO if the page isn't going to be accurate and you want to monopolize the page and not allow do not let edits to be made from the general public then you should delete the page deleted. Because as I mentioned above I think the page will probably be continued to be edited until at least some middle ground is made. Tdawg25 (talk) 19:17, 13 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

To be honest I don't really care who your community of 3 really endorses. To be honest I can't believe editing wiki is something you actually do everyday. There's no way this can actually be your job our enjoyable... and if it is then I am sorry for you. IMO you have been ruining this page for years. I can't wait until you retire from editing.

I think you should find another page to edit and concern yourself with.

  • Tdawg25, you're an inexperienced editor, so I'm extending a lot of tolerance to you. Really, a lot. But if you continue in the same style — "You just want to monopolize this page and be the only person making edits", "I can't wait until you retire from editing" (!) — and continue to ignore urgent requests for a clarification that you're not employed by the school nor a student there (I'm getting really tired of going on about it, see [1]), you will soon be blocked from editing. Please take a look at the policies Wikipedia:Civility and Wikipedia:No personal attacks. I won't mention WP:PAID again. Bishonen | talk 20:18, 13 September 2018 (UTC).Reply

Bishonen, yes I am very inexperienced. Maybe we could meet up and you could teach me some things and you can get a better understanding of who I am. What city do you live in or what is your personal phone number? I think it would be beneficial, to both parties, if we could have a sit down. Maybe over coffee? I can work out most logistics, but if you would not like to meet in person I think a telephone conversation would also be greatly beneficial.

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because it appears that you are not here to build an encyclopedia.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Drmies (talk) 23:10, 14 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Please don't ask me for my phone number. If you wish to request an unblock, you'll have to explain those statements. I don't know if you thought they were funny, or if you were genuinely trying to hit on a fellow editor; either way, they are unacceptable, certainly when combined with your obvious efforts to beef up a few articles.
