Speedy deletion nomination of Afradapis

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Afradapis requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Safiel (talk) 00:27, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your recent contributions. Getting started creating new articles on Wikipedia can be tricky, and you might like to try creating a draft version first, which you can then ask for feedback on if necessary, with less risk of deletion. Do make sure you also read help available to you, including Your First Article and the Tutorial. You might also like to try the Article Wizard, which has an option to create a draft version. Thank you. By the way, I have redirected the article to your user page already. I dream of horses If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. @ 00:32, 30 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment regarding Afradapis Note that I have restored the original deletion notice. However, don't be discouraged. When you have actual content to post, which you indicated would be around June 11th, you may recreate the article at that time. Wikipedia policies do not allow for place holder pages, so the current page will be deleted. Thanks for your understanding and good luck with your page when you are ready to recreate it. As you are ready to create your article, my suggestion to you would be first to upload it to your user sandbox space first. Follow this link User:Tbw875/sandbox and click on start page link. Go ahead and paste in your material and save your edit. Contact me again when you do so and I will give you some advice on how to proceed from there. By creating it in your sandbox space, there is no risk of deletion and the article can be moved to article space when you are ready to do so. Safiel (talk) 18:10, 7 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Also, I strongly suggest you follow and read the links in the Welcome template at the top of this page. Lots of good information for first time editors. Safiel (talk) 18:12, 7 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

I have reviewed your draft. Seems to be a lot of good information on the subject. However, it is written like a scholarly report, rather than like an encyclopedia article and also at a high technical level. It should be rewritten, at a reading level of the average adult, as well as being "wikified." A good suggestion would be to review other similar primate articles that already exist, for example, Australopithecus. That will give you an idea of how the article should look and will help you rewrite your own article. You have a lot of good material to make an article on your subject and I wish you good luck. Also, you may want to ask for help in WikiProject Primates Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Primates and WikiProject Palaeontology Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Palaeontology. Somebody there will have better knowledge of your subject matter and can better help you do the rewrite. Unfortunately, my knowledge of your topic is rather limited.
