Sean O'Dwyer is

Sean O'Dwyer is most commonly known for being Mike O'Dwyer's son, inventor/founder of Metal Storm Ltd and prolific inventor. Those close to the family report that Sean is most certainly a chip off the old block however the number, topic variability and the somewhat out of control scope of ambition of his patents, are already starting to earn him a reputation like that of his father.

Sean O'Dwyer was born in 1976 in Tweed Heads and Duxed his school in 1993, Cathedral School, Townsville, achieving the highest TER possible in Queensland. He then moved on to tackle tertiary Science/Law at the Australian National University (ANU). It is well known however, that all his life his very significant passion and ambition has been learning and working as an inventor/entrepreneur, initially under the significant experience/success-based tutelage of his father, Mike O'Dwyer. Sean reportedly spent his formative years in an environment in which his father, Mike O'Dwyer was successfully prototyping an advanced ballistics "[stacked projectile]] weapon that eventually resulted in the company Metal Storm. Metal Storm Ltd went public on both the ASX in Australia and the

NASDAQ stock exchange in the US, earning Mike O'Dwyer the "Entrepreneur of the Year Award" in 2000. Sean's first job out of University was at Metal Storm as Defense Research Consultant, and later as Defense Research Manager.

Sean worked for some time at Metal Storm (5-10 years) during which time he:

1. Invented the second generation of Metal Storm technology (individual reload), a new stacked projectile enabling technology ^[1] which pushed the company a significant step forward and enabled such weapons as the Redback and 3GL due to it's individual reload capability the original technology lacked. According to a recent Metal Storm announcement (27/01/10) this patent, of which Sean is listed as the sole inventor is one of the key inventions that allows Metal Storm ammunition to be fired.

2. Collaborated with General James Abrahamson (responsible for the US Strategic Defense Initiative - commonly known as Star Wars) in developing a missile defense system that attracted round 3 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) funding and was later classified by the US Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The technology was somewhat aptly named the Frilled-Nick Lizard Missile Intercept System ^[2] - Metal Storm has not reported as regards the technology subsequent to its classification.

3. Developed a number of successful patents (~10-20) and SBIR US DoD defense projects.

4. Worked with both the Australian and US Defense Research Agencies; in Australia, the Defence Science Technology Organization (DSTO) and in the US, the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA). DARPA is often cited as inventing the Internet.

It is rumored that Sean left Metal Storm to pursue an inventor/entrepreneurial career of his own in 2007/2008 funded by his father - Mike O'Dwyer. Since then Sean has founded several patent holding companies (of his own invention) including but not limited to O'Dwyer Innovations Pty Ltd, ^[3]([www.odwyerinnovations.com]), Igruuv Pty Ltd ^[4] ([www.igruuv.com]) and Mission Save Earth Pty Ltd ^[5] ([www.missionsaveearth.com]). Mission Save Earth attracted significant equity interest by Google Asia-Pac partner DMSBT, ~$.5M in consideration for 10% ordinary shares.

Sean has one child to his previous wife Sophie O'Dwyer, who he married in 2000 and divorced in 2008. Sean re-married in 2011 to Danielle Cavanagh and is currently (as of 2010) living in Brisbane, reportedly working on his inventions.
