Welcome edit

Hello Taylor1396 and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm AndrewvdBK, one of the many editors of this great website. I've posted this just to give you some useful advice and help you to settle in. You'll find that Wikipedia is much more than just articles and that there are many areas in which you can help out.

If you want to create an article, I would suggest using the Article Wizard. It will guide you through what you should do to write a great first article. To learn more about editing articles, this page will tell you all you need to know.

To learn more about the fundamental principles by which Wikipedia operates, read about the 5 Pillars of Wikipedia. They should help you to understand exactly what the website stands for.

You may not want to jump straight into editing and writing articles, which is perfectly understandable. The Sandbox is available for anyone to experiment in. You can even create your own sandbox if you wish.

If you want, you can upload images to Wikipedia. However, you will have to know about the image use policy if you are going to upload images. This is largely due to copyright issues, which Wikipedia takes very seriously.

It is important to be civil at all times and to respect the views of other users. Etiquette is a fundamental part of Wikipedia. Remember, the success of Wikipedia is down to teamwork and cooperation.

Eventually, you'll understand why these cookies are here

I hope you enjoy your time on Wikipedia - it can seem very confusing at times, but you'll find that most people are more than willing to help you if you need it. The longer you spend on Wikipedia, the more you'll learn about how it works. If you do need help, you can contact me by leaving a note on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Alternatively, you can add the code {{helpme}} to your user page and someone will come along to offer you assistance.

One last thing - remember to sign all your posts by typing 4 tildes (~~~~). This automatically inserts your username and the time and date of the post.

Good luck and happy editing! AndrewvdBK (talk)

February 2011 edit

  • Please do not add advertising or inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. --  StarScream1007  ►Talk  18:26, 20 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to A Haunting. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Speedy deletion nomination of Beat My Build edit

Hello Taylor1396,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Beat My Build for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Benboy00 (talk) 22:09, 13 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the Beat My Build article, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text—which means allowing other people to modify it—then you must include on the external site the statement: "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later, and under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribute Share-Alike".

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question at the Help Desk. You can also leave a message on my talk page. Laura Scudder | talk 23:36, 13 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:THE LIQUIDATOR 2012 -- PNG FILE.png edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:THE LIQUIDATOR 2012 -- PNG FILE.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 11:40, 27 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for July 28 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited The Liquidator (TV series), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Liquidator. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 08:56, 28 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

August 2015 edit

Hello, I'm ChamithN. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Pretty Little Liars (TV series), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Please note that having similar cast in both shows doesn't make them related. Related shows parameter is mostly used to mention spin-offs. Chamith (talk) 19:11, 1 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Tattoo Fixers edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Tattoo Fixers, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
  • It is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. (See section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. 331dot (talk) 10:23, 4 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
