{{helpme}} I've got two questions: 1. How do you reply to a message on your talk page? (Just adding something below it on my page works, but I don't know if this is read. I can also edit the other person's talk page but I don't know whether this is according to etiquette). 2. Did I handle the vandalism on the Avril lavigne (note the lowercase l) redirect page well?

Helpme reply edit

  1. Hi Tasar - to reply to a message on a talk page, press 'enter' to begin a new line and type one colon (:) then your message. See Wikipedia:User talk page.
  2. Yes, except sometimes it's helpful to let the vandal know they've done something wrong by leaving a notice on their page (see here)

Thanks for your help. This is both a test to check the first reply and a followup on the second one: the vandalism was committed by an IP address (OK, not exactly, by someone who did have an account), so I could not leace a message on the user page. As the IP address only edited this one page I guess no further action is necessary?
This reply did not look real pretty if I'm honest, but putting it after your sig helped a lot :-). Tasar 10:50, 6 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hi Tasar. I would be warning the IP, but since you reverted the edit, you should warn them. Just to let you know, a second reply can be added by placing two colons (::) before your message, a third three colons (:::), etc. Some people prefer to place their replies where the message was left (i.e. on their talk page), but they need to say at the top of their page 'I will reply on this page'. Others prefer to reply on the other person's page. I mix it up a little (I shouldn't really do that!) Auroranorth 11:13, 6 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
