Hi Tara, Great article! I really enjoyed reading it. I found it relevant to the main page, accurate, and well laid out. Just a couple of points: 1. Is quinoa a seed/psuedocereal or is it a grain (as per the Quinoa link on wikipedia) so, I found it a little contradictory. 2. Would you consider talking about how Peruvian farmers are become less healthy/malnourished as they can no longer afford quinoa as a staple? I think quinoa is the only (maybe one of very few) plant products that contain all the essential amino acids humans need to survive. 3. I would have liked more information as to why quinoa and spirolina have become "all the rage". What are the healthy benefits that "fad foodies" are buying into when they consume these products? • Extremely detailed and well described. Awesome!
  • You could add a caption to the soy beans picture and pictures of the Acai and Spirulina plants.
  • Inline sources, most claims are backed up. Very nice. Pictures used come from Wikimedia Commons and are hence in the public domain.
  • The link to Soy Beans does not work, because Wikipedia lists them under Soybeans
  • In the Quinoa paragraph "peruvian" and "bolivian" need to be capitalized
  • After the second sentence in the Soybean paragraph there is a "]" that needs to be removed.
  • Many links to other Wikipedia pages. Nice!
  • In the Acai berry section, you use the berry in the singular in the first sentence, but continue with "They contain...".

Hi Tara,

It was really great learning about this food fad and I definitely learned something new! Here are some changes I would consider:

  • I feel the word "fad" is a little less formal, I would consider maybe using "trend", but this is up to you
  • I'm not sure in your opening paragraph, it says community and environmental impacts, so I would make sure each of the foods you list include a little of both.
  • I would consider using the classic wikipedia heading ==Title==, but that's a formatting edit
  • Confused about the soy bean effects, one setence says that it causes large portion of rainforests to be cut down and the last sentence says it is not the main cause of destruction of forests
  • Expansion of the Acai berry's and Spirulina's ecological effects is needed
  • Really good with the citations and also links to other Wikipedia pages, good integration!

Here is a list of small changes that aren't content related and I'm not sure if proof-reading was part of it, but I hope this helps!

  • "...making the once staple food of peruvian and bolivian villages..."
  • I noticed a random ] after the first sentence in the Soy Beans paragraph

"...This fruit requires a warm environment to grow, and is common in Brazil, where acai tree groves are growing with the demand of product..." I would consider maybe rewording this sentence, seems a little confusing.

  • "... claim that it has the highest chlorophyll content of any plant species..." Just out of curiosity, was this a false claim?
  • "...it is farmed in ponds in warm environments that allow lots of reproduction..." Not sure what you are trying to say here
