No where in the ltu football article is anyone using the name 'University of Louisiana,' or even UL. Again....a consensus has been reached on this topic here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Louisiana%E2%80%93Lafayette_Ragin%27_Cajuns Please read the consensus and stop reverting valid edits.Pncomeaux (talk) 22:10, 16 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Use of the name "Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns" is implying such. Look at when they play games on TV. The score box doesn't say "Louisiana" it says "ULL" or "UL-L" or something to that affect. ULL fans like to claim that they are "Louisiana" but no one else takes that seriously. La Tech especially doesn't recognize that name, as shown by how they address the cajuns on official pages. Again, the views and preferences of how LTU (or its fans) names schools is irrelevant to what is used in Wkipedia articles. You seem to be under the misinformed and incorrect view that LTU 'owns' its article in Wikipedia. It most certainly does not.

Wikipedia uses consistent measures in determining what names to use, and this is out lined in this article:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Article_titles#Use_commonly_recognizable_names

Additionally, I again respectfully remind you that tied issue has do been discussed in great detail and a a consensus on how to name the Cajuns as been reached. This can be found on their main athletic page.

If you disagree with the consensus agreement, the proper action would be to discuss it in the various pages....PRIOR to reverting edits.

Again, I kindly request that you stop vandalizing this article by reverting valid edits. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pncomeaux (talkcontribs) 22:53, 16 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Louisiana Tech edit

Thank you for your contributions to Louisiana Tech related articles. As a historian of Louisiana Tech, I can assure you that ULL has never been a rivalry game for Louisiana Tech. You cited that the schools have played each other the most. While true, that does not make a rivalry. In the earlier eras of football, USL's rivals were in south (McNeese State, Southeastern Louisiana, Lamar) while Tech's rivals were in north Louisiana, especially Northwestern State who Tech played annually in the State Fair Game in Shreveport. Nothing rivaled that rivalry for Tech, It was much bigger than homecoming with a court and all, but it died after Tech moved back up to DI-A. In more recent times, the Tech and ULL have rarely played each other, and ULL hasn't even defeated Tech since they last changed their name two decades ago. Both schools have referred to it as a rivalry game during the recent home-and-home series. Also, in seeing the interactions between Tech and ULL fans and alumni, I have seen a great deal of animosity between them. There was definitely a rivalry air to the most recent game. I can't speak for history, and I don't doubt that NSU was a BIGGER rival, but I don't see how this isn't a rivalry. TannerSpearman (talk) 02:26, 18 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
