re: Invitation edit

Hi Tamsin. Thanks for your enquiry, I would be interested and willing to help out, if the timing is flexible. My email is activated, you can contact me further via this, or on my usertalk page. Regards, --cjllw ʘ TALK 02:58, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Tamsin- ok, that sounds fine, will look forward to hearing from you. To email me (or any other wikipedia editor who has their account set up for it, not everyone does), just go to their userpage -in my case, User:CJLL Wright, and you should see a link in the toolbox "E-mail this user". By default this toolbox appears to the left of your screen, underneath the 'search' box, but might appear in a different location if you've set your preferences differently.
This will bring up an emailing form. You won't see email address your sending to, but it should get through.
If you can make it, the meetup planned in Sydney for April 25th (details at Wikipedia:Meetup/Sydney) would probably be most interesting for you- all the more so since quite coincidentally Jimmy Wales himself is going to be in attendance. So it could be a chance to find out some information directly about the whole enterprise, as well as meeting up with some local contributors. Unfortunately I probably will not be able to come out to this one, much as I'd like to, as I've some prior engagements hard to get away from.
Let me know if there's anything else I can help you out with. Cheers, --cjllw ʘ TALK 08:40, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I am willing to help out as well, my E-mail is on my user page in my boxes Cronholm144 00:04, 25 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey Tamsin, I notice that there only been a few responses to your request. The underlying reason for this is that very few users have seen your request. There are a variety of good ways to meet users, editing articles, reading talk pages, wikipedians by category, etc... Anyway I recommend dropping requests onto talk pages in order to gain more support for your project. I can do the same if you would like. Let me know and good luck.--Cronholm144 01:27, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

P.S. I encourage you to be bold and edit while your here! your contributions are both welcome and appreciated

Hi Tamsin, I've e-mailed you regarding the interview but haven't heard back. Please confirm you received my mail. --PeterJeremy 10:13, 20 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm willing to help, I think. Email me. --Neutralitytalk 03:21, 4 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Study edit

I stumbled across your userpage from Willow's. If you are still looking for participants for your study, I would be interested. I don't know if I am the type of user you are interested in interviewing (see my userpage), but I am always intrigued by studies. Awadewit | talk 11:08, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I will also be glad to join if you are still interested. Zvika 09:40, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia weekly interview - Live edit

We've now gone live with your episode. You can see the main "advertisment" at the community portal, just below the Signpost. Cheers,

Very interesting piece, looking forward to reading your work!-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  00:04, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey there edit

I would have thought – given the interview in WP:WWPC – that this page would be filled with comments. Well, here's one: I enjoyed the interview very much. The distinction you make between WP and other online communities (ie, working toward a goal) was quite revelatory for me.

I've also been trying to make people understand (in light of the WikiScanner scandal) about WP's rapid reversion antivandalism forces. So thanks again for pointing that out.

Cheers. – Scartol · Talk 23:47, 16 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

WW interviewee userbox edit

Hi there, I've been thinking about this for a bit and I think we've got it working. User:scartol has been kind enough to create a userbox for the interviewees of Wikipedia weekly so you can put it on your userpage if you wish. Just copy this code:

{{User:Scartol/ubx/WikWeekGuest|29|http://wikipediaweekly.org/2007/09/13/wikipedia-weekly-29/}}

Which should come out looking like this

This user was a guest on Episode 29 of Wikipedia Weekly. You can listen here.

Best, Witty Lama 00:31, 28 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Very interested. Just use the "email this user" in the toolbox. And do keep me informed as to how you go with it. Witty Lama 16:02, 2 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Congratulations... :) edit

...on handing in your thesis! Does that mean we should call you Dr. Tamsin now? Yeay, yeay, yeay!  :) I hope that you post your thesis soon — I'm dying to read it. Things are wafting along as usual for me; I'm still teaching, although I sense that the knitting fever may be waning. My harvest was brilliant this year; the frost has held off and I'm still eating fresh raspberries from my garden nearly every morning. I'm nearly finished knitting a lacy red angora/silk sweater for a little girl who lives near me; she's rather severely handicapped and can't talk, but I hope that she'll appreciate its warmth and softness. Her parents are great, and it's so heart-warming to see how much they love her; I just love being around them, like a cat near a fire. Here in Wikipedia I've been feeling like I have writer's block, but I try to make myself useful with sundry small edits. Hoping you're spending sunny days relaxing on your terrace or meandering carefree through the streets of Sydney, Willow 13:08, 2 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

:) edit

Every day I anxiously get out of bed to see if your dissertation has arrived in my inbox yet. Alas, no. I just need to know for sure that someone, somewhere can finish. :) Awadewit | talk 01:50, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Tamsin! edit

Hi Tamsin,

Thank you so much for your thesis! It was wonderful and thought-provoking to see how all the pieces fit together. I can also see how other scholars will use your conclusions to build academic work of their own. :) I wouldn't mind having those extra pages, but please take your time and enjoy your well-earned holiday with your mom. Please tell me about it some time; I'd love to hear about where you grew up.

I'm not 100% sure whether I should congratulate you on the recent federal election, but I'll dare it anyway: congrats on getting Mr. Rudd elected! :) I know that you were working hard on the election, and I was keeping my fingers crossed for you.

My Thanksgiving has been lovely, especially with many of my family gathered here. Sadly, none of my sisters with children could come out to the country this year, but one brought her fiancé, so that almost makes up for it. ;) I've been rather busy with cooking for everyone and washing up, all the while trying desperately to finish the sleeves on a sweater; but my larder, well-stocked from the harvest, has come to my rescue. We finished the (11 kg!) turkey yesterday and I made stock from the bones and sundry leftovers. The house still smells wonderful... :)

Hoping your garden is blooming; mine has finally faded, having picked the last raspberries yesterday, Willow (talk) 14:45, 24 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
