Welcome!

edit

Hello, Tammyhtherealtor, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you created or edited was Draft:Tammy Hernandez, which appears to be an article about yourself. Creating an autobiography is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. We require individuals to meet Wikipedia's definition of a notable person to accept articles about them.

The page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page. If your contributions to an existing article about yourself are undone and you wish to add to it, please propose the changes on its talk page.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome!   Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article, or a draft for a Wikipedia article, about yourself. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. – NJD-DE (talk) 20:18, 9 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Orange Mike | Talk 20:02, 2 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
This help desk question appears to be related.
I don't know if the username is actually a problem, but in order to write about yourself, you must follow the directions at WP:COI and in order to qualify for an article you must meet these qualifications.
And despite what User:Tantomile said, you can write about yourself, though if you manage to write an acceptable article, then you are not allowed to edit it. But it is very difficult as you must forget everything you know and rely only on independent reliable sources with a neutral point of view. The warnings above indicate you have been trying but not doing it right.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 21:56, 6 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi. Not sure why we're here again 2 years later, but I'll just say for the record that I tried to provide that information in good faith, and should have said that it was strongly discouraged, rather than outright banned. I was pretty new to editing at the time, sorry for any confusion that caused. As far as I can see, this user has made no further attempts to edit after that conversation in October 2022, including not attempting to appeal this indefinite block for a promotional username. If there's anything I can help with regarding this, please let me know. Tantomile (talk) 18:29, 7 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm sure you did provide the information in good faith. I didn't know whether the person might be willing to try again and this time follow the rules. I'm way behind in the archives but if I can help someone who might be interested even two years later, I'd like to try.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 19:20, 7 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
