Taiwan is not at rue democracy. The constitution being used by the ROC has not been ratified or accepted by the people of Taiwan. The Republic of China does not hold Taiwan's sovereignty thus it can not decree or renounce anyone to be Taiwanese. The fact that non ROC citizens on Taiwan numbering nearly 1,000,000 people are legally prohibited from participating in Taiwan politics under threat of crimial prosecution is indicative of a non democratic state.

Taichung edit

Instead of changing information that a user has put on after a lot of hard work, the PROPER way to deal with things is to DISCUSS it in the talk page of the article and the original author (me for most of the article.)

Because that is how the edit system works. It may not be fair, but it happens to all of us, my first few articles also disappeared. However now that you know that, I'm not sure why you just recreated the following article.

You have recently re-created the article History of Taichung, which was deleted in accordance with Wikipedia's deletion policies. Please do not re-create the article. If you disagree with the article's deletion, you may ask for a deletion review. --ArmadilloFromHell 05:34, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

History of Taichung edit

Please do not spur material off from its parent article without a good reason. This makes it difficult for researchers to locate the information that they require in sensible places. Discuss your reasons on the article's Talk page and gain consensus before doing anything. (aeropagitica) 10:08, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

The moderators put links to a new History of Taichung page because the information is in depth for the the Taichung city page. Please move the article to a new History of Taichung page and place a summary on the city page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Taichung Ren (talkcontribs)

Taiwan edit

Regarding your edits about the rights of non-ROC citizens in Taiwan, I would like to point out that no country in the world allows non-citizens to vote in national elections. Every country in the world makes a distinction between its own citizens and foreigners living on its soil. If you have something to add regarding the rights of foreigners living in Taiwan or laws pertaining to the granting of ROC citizenship, please discuss it in Talk:Republic of China and add it to the appropriate sections. Also, note that Taichung is a city article, so please only add content that are specific to Taichung. -- ran (talk) 15:48, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Taiwan edit

The ROC is not the legitimate government of Taiwan thus it has no right to discriminate against non ROC citizens on Taiwan. Previous revisions will be replaced! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Taichung Ren (talkcontribs)

So who is the "legitimate" government of Taiwan? The ROC runs itself according to the ROC's laws, and the ROC functions like an independent state. All independent states make a distinction between citizens and foreign residents. Where do you get the precedent that an "illegitimate" state cannot make a distinction between its own citizens and foreign residents?
If you feel so strongly about Taiwan being only "semi-democratic", why not take it up at Talk:Republic of China? Why do you insert information pertinent to the politics of the ROC to an article specifically about Taichung? -- ran (talk) 07:02, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
