Machinima
I'll try to do it by tomorrow.--Drat (Talk) 04:35, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- Looks good, can't think of any major changes needed. I mainly just fixed some typos. Like I said in the edit summary, Quake 1 had support for new models, but Quake 2 actually had proper ingame support for loading them easily (using menus or console commands). Not sure how it was done in Q1. Rooster Teeth used the Halo 3 saved film function to film some/all scenes in Reconstruction. This also eliminates the HUD, and thus the letterboxing. I need to relisten to the commentary to confirm some of this. Finally, is it worth mentioning The Seal of Nehahra? It made use of AI, scripting and manual camera control, and is currently the longest running machinima film (AFAIK).--Drat (Talk) 13:10, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Legacy of Kain
Thanks for your help with the article. With regards to secondary sources, I don't even know what those are. As for the inline citation in the intro, I don't understand the problem, I've looked at other video game FAs and many of them have citations in their intros. I also clarified the two points you noted in the article. The Clawed One (talk) 14:58, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
- Reviews are secondary sources? Well that's no problem then, plenty of reviews are cited. The Clawed One (talk) 01:41, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
- I read your email. Those other reviews were interesting reading, but ultimately they don't seem to say anything that at least one of the other reviews doesn't. The Clawed One (talk) 02:00, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the copyedit help, I appreciate it. The Clawed One (talk) 03:35, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
- Ref 27 does have a date, and notability? Not sure about that,I assumed Business Wire was an acceptable source. The rest of it, alright. I don't have time tonight, but I can reformat the dates tomorrow. The Clawed One (talk) 04:19, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, 25, I know is a problem. Simply put, the story of that reference is that I read on a forum that demo discs for Soul Reaver came with the magazine. The problem is that the magazine has apparently since shutdown and come back entirely revamped, so I had to search for hours to find just the production code of the issue. Beyond that, I can offer nothing for it. Fortunately it's a relatively minor problem since what the ref is sourcing isn't vital. The Clawed One (talk) 04:27, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
- I changed the references accordingly, I'm going to look at the other refs you provided and incorporate them later, and see if I can find another source for the soundtrack. The Clawed One (talk) 16:20, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Question now - aside from the shifty soundtrack ref (I'm searching for a better one), is there anyone else that should be done before I take this to FAN? The Clawed One (talk) 19:23, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
- PS - I incorporated a few of those newspaper sources you sent me into the Release section. Thanks for those! The Clawed One (talk) 19:38, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
For GIA, I found IGN referencing them for an article, and GIA also once sourced Videogame.com, which is the former domain name of GameSpot. Given they seem to have sourced and been sourced by two established reliable sources, I hoped they would also be acceptable. If not, I'll try and find others. The Clawed One (talk) 04:19, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
- Yup, that's the one. Should the IGN source be added now, or should I just stow it away and be ready to bring it up and use it if needed? The Clawed One (talk) 05:13, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
- Reading the IGN article, I think it would actually work better, because IGN notes they emailed Eidos and received a reply, so there's an additional layer of....I guess, verifiability, that the GIA source doesn't have. The Clawed One (talk) 05:17, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
- I'm heading out right now, is there anything at all I need to do when I get back? The Clawed One (talk) 15:19, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- Date formatting, done. The Clawed One (talk) 18:55, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
- I'm heading out right now, is there anything at all I need to do when I get back? The Clawed One (talk) 15:19, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I'm gonna take it to FAN either tomorrow or the day after. Before I do, with regards to the soundtrack ref, is "rateyourownmusic.com" a reliable source? The Clawed One (talk) 06:11, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- Here you are: http://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/various_artists___soundtracks___video_game_soundtracks/legacy_of_kain__soul_reaver_promotional_soundtrack/ The Clawed One (talk) 14:59, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
Ah, excellent! Thanks then! I'm a bit busy now, but I'll take it to FAN later today. Wish me luck! The Clawed One (talk) 23:03, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- So Voice Actor in bullet format? Alright then. The Clawed One (talk) 23:14, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
The nomination has been made. Succeed or fail, thank you very, very much for all your help with the article. The Clawed One (talk) 23:31, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
I emailed the other user that was mentioned, thus far he's not replied. The Clawed One (talk) 04:19, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
Excellent, thanks for your help and support! The Clawed One (talk) 16:03, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks very much. I'll add them now. The Clawed One (talk) 06:32, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Um.....those can't be the dates, actually. The one scan you said is from November 1998 says the game is set to be released "January 1998". The Clawed One (talk) 06:36, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- Nevermind, I see the dates in the margins yeah. I guess that's a typo then? The Clawed One (talk) 06:36, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Article Talk Page Etiquette
Hi. I have a question about Talk Page policy. As per the requirement that discussion on an article's Talk Page be about ways to improve the article rather than a general discussion of the article's topic, is it within policy for an admin to remove a thread if it's entirely a general discussion about the article's topic rather than about improving the article? Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 02:04, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Ultima Underworld copyedit
Hi, TKD. I remembered your excellent copyediting work on Halo: Combat Evolved, and then I saw that you're still copyediting (Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver), so I thought you might be willing to help me out. I've been working on Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss, and I'm going to be sending it through FAC soon. However, I was more or less the only person working on it, so the prose is pretty rough and it needs fresh pair of eyes. I've been having some trouble finding copyeditors, so it would be great if you could take a look at it, if you have the time. Thanks. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 18:08, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Sure thing, I can wait. Thanks. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 22:19, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- Amazing job. It's a huge improvement; thanks a million! I'll put the article up for FAC in the next few days. I don't know what I could do in return, but if you ever need a hand on an article, don't hesitate to ask. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 07:48, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

No problem: the Analysis (issue 42) is pages 50-53, and the review (issue 43) is pages 82-87. The image itself is on page 83. Monere (talk) 15:12, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, this is random and stalkerish, but trust me when I have a reason for asking: where do you edit from? (City and country would be nice, but the country is really all I need.) You can just shoot me an email, or reply here, or via my talk. It's for a project I have to do involving Wikipedia articles and editing patterns, nothing special, but I'll let you see it when I'm finished :) --Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 14:13, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Help?
Hi, you probably don't know me, but I'm Tezkag72. I have been working for a long time on the article Shadow the Hedgehog (video game), and it not too long ago passed at GAN but failed at FAC. All the issues that led to opposes have now been fixed, except for the old "copyedit" issue that everyone knows. Can you please help me copyedit the article to meet the MOS requirements? You're one of the ones I think would be best at this, since you seem to have thorough knowledge of this process. Tezkag72 (talk) 02:27, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks! Tezkag72 (talk) 03:08, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, the article's looking better. I have a question, though—you may notice that in the "music" subsection, there are a couple of references from questionable sources ("Sonic Planet" and "Sonic Retro".) Even though they're only used to source the fact that the soundtrack album was, in fact, released; this could also be shown with Amazon.com or other music distributors, but those aren't considered reliable. What do you think I should do? Tezkag72 (talk) 13:16, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- Why would I have to know Japanese to use the source? I can read a bit of the language, but all I need it for is to show that the soundtrack does, in fact, exist. Tezkag72 (talk) 13:01, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- Should I use the translated source or the original one? Tezkag72 (talk) 13:11, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- Do you think the "thought similarly" wording in the reception section is okay? Tezkag72 (talk) 17:41, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- I don't know; someone else I was talking to about the article thought it was better to have more reviews than more quotations, and it's also a general pattern I see in video game FAs. But anyway, what were the comments you had? Tezkag72 (talk) 16:04, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
- Done. Tezkag72 (talk) 13:14, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
- Do you think you're done now? Tezkag72 (talk) 23:44, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
- So...FAC? Tezkag72 (talk) 23:53, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
- It was worded differently before; the ref was a bit more useful then. I removed it, though, because as far as I know the quote is the only instance in the game where anyone curses other than Shadow. Tezkag72 (talk) 00:03, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- I don't own or have access to any issues of Famitsu, and I have most of the Nintendo Powers from the issue one month after the Shadow the Hedgehog review to sometime in mid-2007. As for the sources that show the reliability of Gaming Age, thanks, but what should I do with them? Tezkag72 (talk) 01:49, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

- I asked Sesu Prime about it; I guess I'll tell you when he replies or when I've put the information in the article. Tezkag72 (talk) 13:22, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
- Turned out the review was in the January 2006 issue, which I do have. I put in the review. About Famitsu, though, it's a Japanese magazine, and I don't think that would help much; even if I could find a translator, translated material is usually not considered reliable, and definitely not for an FA.
Do you think the article's ready? Tezkag72 (talk) 22:31, 12 May 2009 (UTC)All the issues from the first FAC have been fixed, so I think it's ready. Click here to see how it's doing on its second run. Tezkag72 (talk) 00:25, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Cut & Paste Formula
Thanks for the advice, although it appears you've done the work for me. P.S. I did not just redirect pages, I merged 2 pages and then redirected them also the pages I edited aside from AM2 were pretty empty and horribly written without any references, I was planning on rewritting all of them from scratch, the cut and paste stuff was just temporary stand in, alot of it doesn't even make sense. Right now I am working on those articles 'parent' article Sega Studios, all of them are related. --Cube b3 (talk) 17:01, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Nehahra
Hard to say. There really is no perfect spot. I've written a very rough bit below (been too long since I've worked with prose). I'd suggest putting it after the sentence "Thus, it was impractical to enhance software to work with Quake III."
December 1999 also saw the release of the Quake engine source code. An early version of the DarkPlaces engine, allowing for enhanced graphical effects and editing capabilities, was utilized in the 2000 production The Seal of Nehahra, the last and longest feature-length Quake movie.
