What are your thoughts on 250's definition of K-pop? I tend to agree but I'd rather be of help to your RfC. Symphidius (talk) 21:39, 10 August 2024 (UTC)

him saying "K-pop is really just pop music made by Koreans" seems correct to me on its basic form, he writes music so obviously he is commenting about that, trying to show that there is not a specific formula for how K-pop sounds. This is partially true, but also imprecise in my opinion for two reasons 1) pop has a strong formulas in itself, no matter if Korean or else 2) the music genre aspect of K-pop isn't the only thing, but I understand him commenting about that since it is really his field of expertise. In general I think that more interviews can bring a more nuanced view on the topic, they help to develop the constant tension between a static formula and change that seems to be crucial for the whole industry. I agree with reverting back to the noncontroversial version, but you might also wanna check out WP:SYNTHNOT (particularly WP:SYNTHNOTJUXTAPOSITION and WP:SYNTHNOTSUMMARY) which is helpful for counterarguing against the blanket "SYNTH" that is thrown at pretty much quite a lot of summary-style stuff.
