Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Pontus. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

Hi, yes, that is not the point. Wikipedia is NOT a linkfarm, we are an encyclopedia. If you can add content to the article, and use the link as a reference, that may be more appropriate. I had a look, and will explain :

You add a link about coins to a page about a region and add that link to the top of the list. That link is there not a legitimate link, as the page is about a region, not about coins. And, as also stated above, we are not a linkfarm or an internet directory. Per the external links guideline, which is also linked above numerous times, you should try to use the link as a reference, if possible. Therefore I am bringing a halt to these link additions until you read our policies and guidelines (as linked above in the welcome template), and discuss the edits with editors, e.g. via a wikiproject (see Wikipedia:WikiProject), or via the edit history of some of the pages, where you can find regular editors on the subjects. --Dirk Beetstra T C 07:51, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
Dear Dirk... thanks for that. I did read your policies, and I feel that the links I added are totally within your policies. I am not trying to spam, and if you just look at the links, you will understand that they are directly on point of the article -- and yes, they are about coins... ancient coins from that specific region of Anatolia, the history of which is described in the article... I am sorry if I tried to put the links on top, you can put them on the bottom if you want. But I am just trying to better your site with relevant information about these ancient regions and their history (of which coins are an essential part).

- No, they are not in the point of the article. The links would be appropriate on the page Anatolian coins or Coins of Anatolia, but not on Anatolia. That is the point of item 13 in WP:ELNO. If we allow this link on Anatolia, then also http://www.dogsofanatolia.com, http://www.housesofanatolia.com, http://www.hatsofanatolia.com etc. etc. can be added, and we are writing an encyclopedia, not a linkfarm.
- However, if there would e.g. be a section about trading in the article Anatolia, and that would specifically talk about that Anatolia had its own coins, and your site would attribute that statement, then your site could be a welcome reference (see the citation guideline).

- Regarding you last addition (well). I see we had 6 links already. Three of them were of the type you were adding, and as such also inappropriate (and I removed those as well). The other three were exactly of the type that I was mentioning, though two of the statements are a bit loose in those points, they don't really fit ('oh, they also minted their own coins', yeah, and what is special about that?), but Hierapolis is a good example. --Dirk Beetstra T C 08:34, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
Uhm, OK well -
1. I did not add any links prior to my last attempts... I was directed here from my stats page, since links to my site were already posted here. I merely duplicated what I saw, which I thought was appropriate since you chose to post it long ago. Now, you are apparently deleting content that was previously approved... what's up? this seems a bit revisionist.
2. You obviously have no idea about the history of the cities and regions (the links for which you deleted), if you make comments like 'oh, they also minted their own coins', yeah, and what is special about that?' The coins are the only direct "reference" to what your article describes. The links I posted show the coins from each region and, as such, it is like a slide show of history for those regions.
3. I feel it is better to say generally (for purposes of your "articles") that "coins were minted" in each of these Regions, than what you pointed out as being "a good example" -
"Hierapolis - A temple was raised to Apollo Lairbenos, the principal god of Hierapolis, during the Hellenistic period (as can be seen on coins from Hierapolis). [7] [Coins of Hierapolis] - link
The link to the coins on my website have no Hellenistic coins showing Apollo Lairbenos (only late Roman). And which Hierapolis is the article about? There are several - Hierapolis and Hieropolis... Phrygian or Cilician? Anyways, do you want to delete this now too?
What would you like me to do as far as submitting links? Please, just tell me what is acceptable as an external link or note. Thanks.

- OK, we are getting somewhere. What I meant with the comment like 'oh, they also minted their own coins' was that that is nothing too special, many regions minted their own coins at some time. There must be more to tell about it, but the statement that is there is a good beginning (things that would make the statement better were when, which material (and that may be very region specific) etc.), and when you would start with adding that with a reference to the site, I would have less problems (or even no problems) with the additions.
- I should by the way now also point you to our conflict of interest guideline. Editing with a conflict of interest does not have to be a problem, as long as you are discussing when problems do occur or editors revert an edit of you. It would be nice to seek contact with people in the wikiproject about you and your site, in that case they may help you further.

- Hi Dimitry. It is true that people can just click the link, but that is outside of the scope of what wikipedia is trying to accomplish, we are trying to write an encyclopedia here, not an internet directory. And if you have 10 minutes to add links to say 30 pages, you would also have had 10 minutes to add content to one page, and the latter is what makes this project grow.
