A belated welcome! edit

The welcome may be belated, but the cookies are still warm!

Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, Syedshas. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:

Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page, consult Wikipedia:Questions, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.

Again, welcome! Begoon 11:36, 24 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

References edit

I left you some handy links above.

With regards to references, I really think you are misunderstanding their purpose.

A reference is added with content so that readers can verify the content is correct. It should be a third party, independent of the subject.

A suitable reference is not a link to the home page of an institution or tourist attraction. That's published by themselves, not independent.

Also a reference is not just a general link, it needs to support what is actually written in the article - so if the article says "Fred was a leading guitar player in the 1970s", a reference needs to talk about Fred being a guitar player in the 1970s, not just a link to Fred's home page. The reference needs to be reliable and independent and actually talk about and support what is written in the article.

Hope that helps. -- Begoon 11:36, 24 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Given your history of repeatedly violating copyright, both here and at Commons, you really should know better than to copy content word for word from another site. Just to repeat - you may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must always write content using your own words. -- Begoon 10:38, 6 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
