Hi

Haven't talked in a while :D PM me on IRC :)

Patrolling

No, thank you. Patrolling is worthless. I see far too many nonsense and vandalistic articles that have been "patrolled". Corvus cornixtalk 00:51, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ok. It was just a suggestion. :) Swirlboy39 (talk) 01:35, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your web browser

I hope I'm not butting in. I noticed that at User talk:Acalamari you said that Twinkle doesn't work on your computer. I'm curious: what browser and version are you using? —Remember the dot (talk) 01:51, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speaking of my talk page, I've responded to your question there. Acalamari 03:10, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
(replying to User talk:Remember the dot#Re) – That's odd. Are you using Firefox 2.0? Is JavaScript disabled?
The built-in rollback does work nicely, but Twinkle offers so much more, and I'd hate to see a user deprived of valuable tools. —Remember the dot (talk) 03:49, 3 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Twinkle Help Please

I don't quite understand the instructions for installing Twinkle on Firefox. The directions mention a monobook.js file, where can I find that and how would I edit it? Thanks for the help.Xenosagian (talk) 13:37, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

You can find it at User:Xenosagian/monobook.js. Click edit to edit the page. Ths link is red because you have not yet created it. SwirlBoy39 14:45, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I did that, but nothing seems to have changed anywhere. Wikipedia still looks exactly the same. The Twinkle documentation page doesn't seem to provide any information on how to actually use the script. I'm probably missing something, would you mind helping me again?

Huh?

Re: Signature Books

In response to your question about "signature books" here:

Yes autograph books are tolerated (see Category:Wikipedian autograph pages) although there has been some debate over then (see Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Autograph books). -Icewedge (talk) 05:25, 8 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please substitute block tags

I noticed you tagged User talk:BrandoQuin with {{usernameblock}}, you should use {{subst:usernameblock}} per WP:UW and WP:UTM. This is the same as for all warnings and block tags, otherwise they won't properly categorize the page and the notices will change when the template is changed which is not desirable for these types of templates. Thanks.--Doug.(talk contribs) 05:47, 10 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lopado...pterygon

In regard to this article, while the word the article is about is ridiculous, the article itself is far from nonsense. In fact, the reason we have an article about it is that it was coined by the famed ancient Greek playwright Aristophanes, and has been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as a record-setting long word. Therefore, it should not have been tagged as {{db-nonsense}}. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 04:51, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unbanned

Congratulations, I'm pleased to say that the community has decided to unban you with the following restrictions;

  1. The ban on Bugman94 is lifted, and ergo SwirlBoy would be permitted to edit Wikipedia (rather than be blocked from editing as a banned contributor);
  2. SwirlBoy is placed under community civility parole: any administrator may block him for up to one week if any of his edits are deemed to be incivil.
  3. SwirlBoy is enrolled in mentorship (he has already agreed on IRC that I be his mentor) indefinitely; my intention, if this proposal is approved by the Community, is to continue this until, in my opinion, it is no longer required.
  4. SwirlBoy agrees to use the account SwirlBoy39 (talk · contribs), and that account only, to facilitate full and open community scrutiny of his behaviour post-unbanning. As a matter of course, that would include not editing from the Bugman account.

Best of luck with your future editing. Ryan Postlethwaite 13:06, 6 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Good stuff! I was planning to close it myself, but if you're not fast, you're last, I suppose. Incidentally, I forgot to note in those conditions: I'll act as your mentor from this point in. So hello again. ;) Anthøny 15:26, 6 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Warning

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you.--LAAFan 02:01, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry to template a regular (I really do hate to do it), but I believe it fails to meet notability guidelines. If you can find references in which it states why he is notable, or if he does happen to win an Olympic Medal, than he would become notable. Please do not remove a CSD tag, instead add a hangon tag and discuss on the talk page. I do not want to get into an edit war on this.--LAAFan 02:05, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oops

Hi. Please have a look at the recent revision history of Andy Goldsworthy. This is what happened:

  • 17:30, 26 October 2008 SwirlBoy39 (Talk | contribs) m (22,001 bytes) (Reverted edits by 78.144.151.94 (talk) to last version by 92.234.32.127) (undo)
  • 17:29, 26 October 2008 78.144.151.94 (Talk) (19,063 bytes) (→Biography) (undo)
  • 20:52, 25 October 2008 92.234.32.127 (Talk) (22,001 bytes) (→Biography: "the" not required here in BrE) (undo)

that is,

  • 92.234.32.127 correctly removes an inappropriate "the"
  • 78.144.151.94 vandalizes the article
  • you then revert the article to 92.234.32.127's last edit, then send a warning to 92.234.32.127, the legitimate editor, rather than to the vandal at 78.144.151.94

Best wishes DisillusionedBitterAndKnackered (talk) 17:07, 29 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi. You recently tagged Adi dobre for speedy deletion as nonsense. While not meeting the standards for inclusion, it wasn't nonsense as it just wasn't English. I know it may seem like a subtle difference, but reasons for deletion are important - they frequently get challenged. Keep up the good work on WP:NPP. Helping undo vandalism

  The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
Thanks for helping me undo the vandalism on Grass Lake, Michigan! You managed to revert the page just before I was about to, but I was too busy admonishing the user on his talk page. I took credit for the revert on the talk page (as per my intention), but I want to give credit where credit is due! Ericdn (talk) 21:37, 7 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
