Regarding free speech and Wikipedia
editSee WP:FREESPEECH. Wikipedia isn't a government body, and the first amendment only says government will not hinder free speech, but that doesn't mean that people have the right to force this private institution to act as their personal sounding board, no more than I can force you to follow or renounce any given religious or political view. 74.254.68.126 (talk) 16:47, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Request reason:
I didn't make any "threats" since I was only promising legal action IF Colonel Warden were disciplined. Since The Colonel was not harmed, I never had to "threaten" legal action. Now that the controversy has passed, can I be unblocked?
Decline reason:
The intended effect of your "threat" was to prevent action against someone and silence some form of action - as such, it's a completely intended threat (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 21:57, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:
I am sorry about making legal actions and see the error of my ways. I apologise and it won't happen again.
Accept reason:
Legal threats have but one purpose: to create a climate of fear and intimidation to those seen as opposition. That is why we deal with them so harshly. Given that you found your way to WP:ANI on your fourth edit ever it seems likely you are not as completely unfamiliar with Wikipedia policies as most new users could be expected to be, so I'm not sure why you thought this was a good idea. I trust the message has now been received that using threats of real-world consequences is not how we get things done here. Beeblebrox (talk) 22:59, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
- I want to be clear with you here that what we are looking for is not an apology but rather an indication that understand why we do not tolerate threats of legal action. Beeblebrox (talk) 22:28, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
