Speedy deletion of Scientific Working Group - Imaging Technologies

A tag has been placed on Scientific Working Group - Imaging Technologies, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Your Username

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy for the following reason: It appears to reference the group Scientific Working Group on Imaging Technology, and as such would not be allowed under Wikipedia:Username_policy#Company.2Fgroup_names. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?

I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.

You have several options freely available to you:

• If you can relieve my concern through discussing it here, I can stop worrying about it.
• If the two of us can't agree here, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Wikipedia administrators usually abide by agreements reached through this process.
• You can keep your contributions history under a new username. Visit Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the guidelines there.

Response on username

I am the vice chair of the outreach committee of the Scientific Working Group on Imaging Technology. This committee exists to provide timely information on the use of imaging technology to law enforcement and the judicial system around the world. One of the tools to do this is to establish a presence on the web which interested parties may learn about SWGIT and follow links to the group's documents. The user name of SWGIT was chosen because this page was a collaboration of the committee. What would have been a better tact on choosing a user name? The page we created, Scientific_Working_Group_on_Imaging_Technology indicates there is a conflict of interest and a tone problem. Do you think this could be related to user SWGIT making a page entitled SWGIT? Swgit (talk) 14:21, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
