York to Scarborough line

edit

I see you are interested in this.

I'd be interested in a bit of history - was it part of the NER? (The article on [[NER]] suggests not - it mentions Malton to Driffield railway, but not York to Scarborough/.

Johnbibby 15:20, 27 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Do you have a source for the opening date of Huttons Ambo? According to Cobb (2003, pp.413-414), Huttons Ambo station opened in 1885 and closed in 1930 (although the line opened in 1845)

He has Barton (formerly Barton Hill), Kirkham/Karkham abbey as opening in 1853/1875 resp.

Who is right I wonder?

Cobb, Col M. H. (2003) The Railways of Great Britain: A Historical Atlas; Ian Allan Publishing Ltd; ISBN 07110-3002-2 Huttons Ambo: pp.413-414 & Plate VII (vol.2)

Johnbibby (talk) 15:46, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

The York to Scarborough branch line was built by the York and North Midland Railway and opened in 1845; it was the Y&NM that became a founding part of the NER - so yes the Scarborough branch was most definately part of the NER. The Malton and Driffield Railway although much smaller than the three generally acknowledged founding companies of the NER never the less joined the NER at its foundation in 1854.

There is a Wikipedia entry for the York to Scarborough Line but it is barely a stub, with no historical information. XTOV 16:54, 11 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Scarborough North Bay Railway

Hi - what are your reasons for deleting references to the Cleethorpes Light Railway in this article? – Tivedshambo (talk) 16:23, 7 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

In the absense of any obvious reasons, I've reverted it. Please discuss on the article's talk page if you have any concerns. – Tivedshambo (talk) 07:58, 8 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
This page makes it clear that the Cleethorpes Light Railway has the lease for the railway for ten years. If you have any information to the contrary, please cite it rather than removing it. Also the above link seems to be the official website of the railway - www.nbr.org.uk is merely a pointer to a Fotopic site. Although relevant to the page, it should not be used for reference purposes.
I'll revert this page again - please do not keep changing it (whether logged on or anonymously). – Tivedshambo (talk) 23:31, 8 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
If the anonymous edits weren't you then I apologise - I'd assumed they were as they made the same changes. I'll put a message on the IP in question and also on the article's talk page. – Tivedshambo (talk) 15:42, 9 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Grinkle

edit

Strange. One moment it is red and the next it is blue. Anyway, to the point, did it close in 1939, as you have put in the text, or 1958, as you have put in the infobox? One of these needs to be corrected. Simply south (talk) 18:46, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oops! It was 1939 - sorry! Svitapeneela (talk) 18:51, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Jamie McKeller

edit

The article Jamie McKeller has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No assertion of notability - minor actor, minor stage / screen roles, no major or starring roles, no awards.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited South Durham and Lancashire Union Railway, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page A67 (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hello, I am David Humphreys, owner of North Bay Railway Company Limited. Like your new map of the railway on Wiki. Needs two amendments - signal box and footbridge are wrong way around.

Please can we use it on our site?

Thanks.

Ways to improve Kirkby Thore railway station

edit

Hi, I'm Boleyn. Svitapeneela, thanks for creating Kirkby Thore railway station!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Thanks for creating this article. Are you able to WP:INLINECITE your sources? At the moment, if a reader wanted to use this for research (I think many will) then they can't see where you got each point from, and would have to look through the entirety of three books rather than seeing the source and page number at the end of that sentence.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Littlebeck

edit

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Littlebeck a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Littlebeck, Cumbria. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Proposed deletion of File:Sdlur.jpg

The file File:Sdlur.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
