Speedy deletion nomination of Dreamers of the Ghetto

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dreamers of the Ghetto requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Ridernyc (talk) 21:38, 22 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use File:Steven A. Clark.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Steven A. Clark.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 00:04, 13 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Steven A. Clark.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Steven A. Clark.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:57, 21 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

December 2015 - warning about uploading files

This is your only warning; if you upload a blatantly unencyclopedic image again, as you did at File:Steven A. Clark.jpg, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. (I'm posting a high-level warning since this is the 4th time you have uploaded File:Steven A. Clark.jpg and have been warned and the file speedy deleted 3 times in the past for the same issue: Clearly failing WP:NFCC#1 since the subject is still alive. File permission problem with File:SACperform.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:SACperform.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 21:23, 14 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. Steel1943 (talk) 23:25, 14 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 31 hours for persistent disruptive editing. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Katietalk 00:45, 15 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

You have been repeatedly asked and warned against uploading non-free images of living people and tagging them inappropriately. It is disruptive, because it takes time and people to sort it out and get them out of the articles. It is our policy to only use freely-licensed images of living people in articles, and you have been told this over and over. Press photos are not free images. If you persist in doing this after the block expires, successive blocks will be longer in length. Katietalk 00:48, 15 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Tom Beaujour

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Tom Beaujour, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://tombeaujour.com/.

It is possible that the bot was mistaken and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. Speedy deletion nomination of Ali Chant

edit

Hello Svish166,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Ali Chant for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. TheLongTone (talk) 15:22, 30 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for promotional editing. As you have noted that "Next Wave Management wants a Wikipedia page for all of the artists they represent. I am part of Next Wave Management and approve that Ali Chant should exist as she is a living person who deserves credit for her work" it is apparent that this account is being used for promotional purposes contrary to Wikipedia policy. Note that if you do request an unblock, you will need to disclose any payment you may receive for your edits.. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 22:29, 31 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I do not believe that we should be blocked because we are not promoting these people, we simply represent them and would like to create living persons backgrounds and credits to these people. We are not promoting the artist in any way. We don't mention that the person is a part of Next Wave Management nor are we promoting them, we are simply mentioning that they exist and have done said credits.Svish166 (talk) 15:37, 6 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

1) Company or group accounts are not allowed, so you can't have an account operated by any "we".

2) Mere existence is not sufficient justification for a Wikipedia article, and you don't get to decide who has an article and who doesn't purely on the grounds that you represent them and you "approve" it - see WP:N for some information about Wikipedia's notability standards.

3) You don't seem to have paid any attention to what you have been told about Wikipedia's policies on promotional editing and conflicts of interest. Even if you don't use "promotional" wording or mention your company, getting clients included on websites like Wikipedia is clearly part of your promotional business. Svish166 (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Thank you for questions, I'll attempt to answer them succinctly: 1) I apologize for using "we"; tho I work for Next Wave, I am not being paid directly for creating these posts. 2) I understand I don't get to decide what's worth being on Wikipedia and what's not. I understand that I need to do better at showing Ali Chant's contribution to music and culture better, and I would like the opportunity to do that. I strongly believe you will see the merits - especially relative to many of the other artists represented on Wikipedia 3) I do not believe I'm trying to promote Ali Chant in the way you're suggesting. I just believe that Ali is an important enough artist to be represented on Wikipedia and I would like the opportunity to convince the administrators. Thank you for your time, patience and reconsideration Svish166 (talk) 16:02, 11 April 2016 (UTC)

Decline reason:

All of your edits are to the same area. Your comment Next Wave Management wants a Wikipedia page for all of the artists they represent. I am part of Next Wave Management and approve that Ali Chant should exist as she is a living person who deserves credit for her work makes it clear that you have a conflict of interest in your area. Given this conflict of interest, and the fact that your edits have all been in the area of the conflict of interest and some of them promotional in nature I think this block is justified.

Your unblock request pretty much indicates you intend to continue to work in this area. While your intentions may not be promotional that is the effect. If the topics you think deserve an article really do then someone without an involvement in the topic will come along and write a neutral article. If nobody without an vested interest is writing the article then it may just not be a topic notable enough for the encyclopedia.

If you want to contribute to the encyclopedia in areas you don't have a conflict of interest in then I can unblock you, but you must agree to avoid anything related to the topic you were blocked for promoting. This means that you need to agree not to write about Next Wave Management employees or clients or any other area related to them. If you agree to this I can unblock you. However if you are here just to write about your work then I cannot. HighInBC 16:31, 11 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:A Different Ship, album by Here We Go Magic, 2012.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:A Different Ship, album by Here We Go Magic, 2012.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 15:19, 19 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
