Indeed, it's a great template - but beware the fate of WP:BJAODN. It appears Wikipedia is quickly loosing it sense of humor :( -- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  22:39, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia seems to be for people who want to feel themselves powerful and important, but don't have any skills becoming that in real life. Humour, specially on their account doesn't fit the bill. I don't know if it is related one way or another but... I have noticed that wikipedia has lost it's quality. Few years ago when I was also more active editor I read the wikipedia and it had many-many good articles. Nowadays I only see stubs, articles which are heavily misstructured and sometimes even unreadable because of the craziest wording ever (probably cause of content disputes: "While most western countries like latvia, and EU see the annexation as an act of illegal occupation Russian federation doesn't see it neither as illegal nor occupation"). Most articles I see have horde of templates about NPOV, cleanups and various animals. And I don't mean only Soviet history articles. Wherever I look, I see the templates and broken articles.
It might be because wikipedians don't like to have fun working with the content but like to fight eachother to death over the content.Suva 23:18, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Everybody edit

Suva,

I certainly don't pretend to know how to properly edit pages here. I am sorry if I have offended you. My only concern was correcting an obvious error on a page that someone else created for a show that I was composer for. As far as I know, a fan created that page and we had nothing to do with it. I wrote the music, Joel & Kelly wrote the book and the nine cast members, Joel and I all wrote the lyrics... so we decided to put the word EVERYBODY on the posters, programs and even on the CD that we sold (go to our website and you'll see the smaller version of the poster (www.FellowshipTheMusical.com). I wasn't trying to do anything dastardly. I am curious though where you are getting the information that I wrote the lyrics... that's not written anywhere by anyone as far as I know. Anyway, thanks for trying to look after our listing at least. I do appreciate that people are trying to keep Wiki honest. - Allen —Preceding unsigned comment added by BigAl63 (talkcontribs) 10:08, 19 September 2007 (UTC) (Sorry... I don't know how to sign this. I moved the comment at the end of page. You can use the little + tab on top of page to start new discussion thread. Владимир И. Сува Чего? 10:18, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! Although I am not sure if I have deserved it. I am more active in talk pages than article pages. But I still accept the award. Thanks again! Владимир И. Сува Чего? 20:20, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Plz, don't mix definitions of term Fine arts (Russian: Изобразительные искусства) outside and inside USSR/Russia - it's possible to be lost in translation. For more information, plz see discussion page of respective image. Alex Spade 15:16, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for understanding. I don't want to delete this image, I just wanted the appropriate license. Alex Spade 16:47, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Signature edit

It would be a nice if your signature was composed of standard latin characters, at least partially, so other users would be able to read and type it without extra effort. We're trying to work together here, so it doesn't make sense to use a signature that tends to obfuscate your identity and frustrate other users. Thanks. - Jehochman Talk 21:28, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Barnstar edit

Thank you. There is a saying: for evil to triumph, it is enough for good to do nothing. I have seen to many good editors do nothing, try to keep civility standards and than just got to tired of to torrent of incivility and let it continue. And I have seen to many harassment campaign succeed, driving good editors away, while the harassers didn't even get a warning. This must end. That said, I would like to note that I am not defending Diwurgnen: I don't know about him or other Estonian users to be helpful here. I do hope that none of you is really guilty of sock puppeting: we had one sock puppet master among Polish editors, and this - often brought up by our 'friends' - still haunts us.-- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  14:38, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I know for a fact that all the main Estonian contributors on Estonia-related Wikipedia topics are distinct people. I might not have met Suva or Alexia Death, but it's not hard to figure out their full names, or to track down their widespread Internet presence of years and years. And then, Sander Säde and Siim Vahtre do use their real names as Wikipedia nicks. ΔιγυρενΕμπροσ! 18:39, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Actually, this might now become harder. It would seem that University of Tartu has ceased supporting the ee.* Usenet groups. It's particularly damaging because news.ut.ee used to be a primary repository of old Estonian news postings. ΔιγυρενΕμπροσ! 18:43, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
As I said, it came as a shock to all Polish editors that one of us had sockpuppets - and he damaged the reputation of all of us. I hope it is as you say, and none of Estonian editors are guilty of it. If I am wrong - I can only hope that the offender will stop now and never use the offending accounts again.
As for the population argument, it's something that I discussed before with other editors. It's not only population, it's also national wealth and 'digital divide' meaning that national wealth is also disrupting equality on Wikipedia (unfortunately without meta:GUS we cannot cite hard data on that). However, there are some factors on Wiki mitigating those problems: 1) most of editors from any country should be reasonable and amendable to compromise 2) most of editors on Wiki are neutral due to not being from the countries in dispute; hence any neutral forums should have a majority of neutral editors who will counter any population/wealth bias. The problem is that we simply don't have a tool to efficiently enforce policies like CIV, NPA, HARASS - check the closing debate on WP:PAIN and you will not be surprised who voted 'close'... -- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus | talk  16:13, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
