Re: Zebra chip concerns

I have attempted to address your concerns in an effort to further improve this article. Please visit Zebra chip to check out the new references and new information on New Zealand's export worries. As the bans have resulted from a new bacteria species that might be Zebra chip, I recommend we keep the economic impact on New Zealand at the Zebra chip page until/unless the bacteria is eventually found to be unrelated to the disease affecting the Americas. CB (ö) 23:43, 7 August 2008 (UTC) Candidatus Liberibacter species reported in New Zealand is regarded as the same as isolated frm Zebra Chip potatoes from Texas by APHIS (only 1 base pair difference, unfortunately APHIS have not lodged their sequence on Genbank yet). This is also almost identical to the C. Liberibacter psyllaurus reported from Psyllid Yellows tomato and potato in California (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18676707?ordinalpos=1&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum) - sequence data on Genbank. Anecdotally, the New Zealand potatoes with Zebra Chip showed foliar symptoms initially thought to be herbicide residue damage, but subsequently consistent with Psyllid Yellows in potato.
