 Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Happy editing! Cheers, 48JCL (talk) 02:36, 30 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Guidance

edit

Hi Suny8616, I saw your note on Kuru's talk page. The first thing you need to do is declare your conflict of interest. If you are the Yi Sun or have a non-financial affiliation with Yi Sun, you will need to make the COI delcaration on your User page (User:Suny8616). If you have a financial interest (you are doing this one behalf of an employer or client), you need make the WP:PAID declaration (see WP:PAID#How to disclose). Either way, you do not need to reveal who are; you only need to make the appropriate declaration. Also, I noticed above you state "Will do the editing ourselves" which indicates there is more than one person. Please note, an account is for a single person and cannot be used by multiple people so if there are other people, they need to set up their own account and make the appropriate declaration.

I suggest carefully reading Your first article along with the notability guidelines for academics. If you have questions, you can ask at the Teahouse.

Also, did you pay someone to create the original article about Yi Sun? S0091 (talk) 17:37, 2 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Dear S0091. Thanks for you advice. I will find time to declare my conflict of interest.
Indeed I am Yi Sun, and I understand that an account is for a single person. By stating "will do the editing ourselves" I meant to say that I will do it myself with the help from my stduent who is good on web-design. As a matter of fact, with his help, I have recreated the wiki page https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:UserLogout&returnto=User%3ASuny8616%2FSample+page
with a file name: User:Suny8616/Sample page, and submitted it yesterday. I am not sure whether you can open/see it.
My answer to your last question: I did pay someone who contacted me via email to create my Wiki page on my behalf. I have contacted the person multiple times when I found some warning signs in my page, but did not receive any reply after I made my payment. I do not think that I will get my refund.
Thanks so much for your attention and your concerns. I hope to re-create my page with your help. Best, Yi Suny8616 (talk) 15:37, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you Yi Sun. Yes, I can see User:Suny8616/Sample page and I have added a submission template so when you are ready, click the blue "Submit your draft for review" button. Be aware, it can take anywhere from a couple days to a couple months for it to be reviewed. As for the COI declaration, I can post it for you if you are ok with me doing so. Just let me know.
Sorry about what happened to you. Whoever is doing this is very deceptive and it has been going on for at least a couple years if not longer. It would be very helpful to Wikipedia if you can send any information about who contacted you and any copies of emails you have to:
paid-en-wp@wikipedia.org
Only a select few highly trusted Wikipedia editors have access to that email. Thanks again. S0091 (talk) 16:11, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks so much. I really appreciate your help.
Yes, I have just submitted my draft for review.
Yes, Please send me the COI declaration for me to sign.
Yes, I will forward my email communications with that deceptive person to paid-en-wp@wikipedia.org Suny8616 (talk) 23:00, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
My email communications with that deceptive person have been forwarded to paid-en-wp@wikipedia.org Suny8616 (talk) 23:12, 3 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
There's not anything sign. It's essentially a note on your User page which I have now added and I see the article was accepted, If you can trim the Selected publications down to 5-7 of you most cited/impactful work, which the standard rule, I will remove that notice (aka "tag"). Going forward outside of minor tweaks like spelling and grammar you nor anyone affiliated with you, should not edit the article directly but instead make edit requests on the article's talk page (Talk:Yi Sun (academic)). You may find the WP:Edit Request Wizard helpful. If you ever have questions, you can ask at the Teahouse.
Thank you for sending the email. I will let someone with access know. S0091 (talk) 15:06, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your suggestion. I have trimmed the Selected publications down to 7.
Can you please advise how to address this issue under * Yi Sun publications indexed by Google Scholar?
This article needs additional or more specific categories. Please help out by adding categories to it so that it can be listed with similar articles. (June 2024)
Thanks you so much. Suny8616 (talk) 23:11, 4 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I removed the tags given your updates. You are quickly becoming a Wikipedia editor. :) I do not know about Google Scholar but I found these instructions from the University of Michigan or you might reach out to the Zhejiang University's library. S0091 (talk) 14:44, 5 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes. It is done and both tags were removed. So wonderful!
You should take the major credit to make me a quick Wikipedia editor :).
I guess I am done now for my Wiki page. I want to thank you for all your help and advice to make it happen. Suny8616 (talk) 15:02, 5 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
My pleasure! If you are ever interested in improving Wikipedia's coverage within the areas of your expertise or any other topics of interest, you may find WP:EXPERT, WP:WikiProject Medicine and WP:WikiProject Molecular biology helpful. Wish you the best. S0091 (talk) 15:12, 5 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Yes, Categories have been updated.
I also trimmed down the selected References to 7 per request.
Please go over my updated version, and remove these two warning notes, if my editing is acceptable.
