File permission problem with File:Kay Lovelle Profile Photo.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Kay Lovelle Profile Photo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — JJMC89(T·C) 02:52, 24 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hello, and thank you for reviewing the Kay Lovelle wiki page. This is a new venture for me and I appreciate your help.

My name is Karen Dular and I will be continuing the efforts of my colleagues in creating the Wikipedia page for Kay Lovelle. My background is technical writing, so I am looking to you for guidance in the resubmission.

Here is my first questions:

Question 1 edit

You commented that IMDb is not a reliable source. Is it acceptable to reference Kay’s acting roles to the associated movie’s Wikipedia page instead?

Example (for her role in the movie Movie Sugar Rush): Use: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar_Rush_(2018_TV_series) Instead of: Lovelle, Kay. "Kay Lovelle Actress". IMDB.

Before I began looking into this resubmission, I researched other Wikipedia pages that I felt were similar to Kay’s presentation and background. Can you tell me if there are any parts of these pages that are unacceptable that I should avoid? They look very similar to ours and they reference IMDb. For example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruth_England https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alisa_Arnah

Thanks again for your time.Sunshinedaydreamwiki (talk) 15:34, 1 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi there! IBDb is not a reliable source, and neither is another Wikipedia page. This is because both these sites can be edited by anyone, and we need to find independent sources to base a Wikipedia page on. There are probably other Wikipedia pages which use these sources, but they shouldn't. MurielMary (talk) 00:01, 2 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the clarifying. I understand the concern. I have discovered an IMDbPro source for the entertainment industry that I think would be considered a reliable source. This site requires a membership/verification and maintains contact information, agents, etc. for an actor. Is a reference to this site acceptable? Sunshinedaydreamwiki (talk) 12:38, 4 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
I think you should ask the experts at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard MurielMary (talk) 08:13, 5 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Question 2 edit

Kay Lovelle has been very active in veganism as and environmentalist and fashion/beauty entrepreneur. This avenue of her career was entered into as a result of her acting career and ability as an entertainment figure to reach the public. I will be adding that content with the resubmission.

For references outside of movies and television, are radio station program references and online braodcasts a valid source? Since Kay’s audience is composed of followers that rely heavily on social-media delivery, many of her presentations and speaking arrangements are internet-based (vegnews.com, veggievision.tv). Can you provide guidance on the correct inline references for these? Is it acceptable to provide the URL, internet address of these sites? Many of her interviews were broadcast on .com websites, as opposed to television.

For example, I would like to include this:

Vegan Advocacy As a vegan activist, Kay was featured in a BBC3 Documentary, “Hayley Goes Vegan,” that highlighted her work as a model for vegan fashion and organic/cruelty free beauty. As founder of the Bio Fashion Vibe, Kay is able to expose issues involving the practices of animal use in the fashion and beauty industries for her followers. Kay’s efforts to advocate for the vegan lifestyle have been highlighted in the following articles and media appearances : 

  • Vegan Life– Maria Slough talks to vegan icon, Kay Lovelle on the future of fashion.
  •  Plant Based News (Sep 16, 2018) – Artist Aims To Spread Vegan Message On Big Brother.
  •  VegNews (September 18, 2018) – Contestant Will “Do Veganism Justice” on New Season of Big Brother.
  •  MABBH (April 8, 2019) – MABBH Spotlight: Kay Lovelle
  •  The Vegan Society (May 10, 2019) – Paving the Way for Vegan Fashion.
  •  Viva – Kay Lovelle, Animal Rights Advocate and Big Brother Star, Joins Viva! Campaigns Tesco Day of Action!
  •  SoundCloud (Episode 12) – Model, Actress, Big Brother Contestant | Kay Lovelle Interview.
  •  VeggieVision TV (15 June 2019

) – We Chat with Big Brother Star, Actress and Vegan Fashion Advocate Kay Lovelle.

I think you should read the Wikipedia pages about acceptable sources to get more detailed information, or ask a question on the talk page of that policy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons#Reliable_sources MurielMary (talk) 08:06, 3 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Question 3 edit

My colleagues used Kay’s professional name (Kay Lovelle). Is it more credible to create a Wikipedia page using her given name (Ksenia Lavrentieva)?

Since she is known by Kay Lovelle, I think that name should be used for the entirety of the page, and just have "born Ksenia Lavrentieva" in the introductory content.

Thank you.Sunshinedaydreamwiki (talk) 15:39, 1 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Is the person Marion Worth a similar situation? See how on that page both the birth name and the professional name are listed.
