Jordan Romero and editing

edit

Hi, I saw your note on the talk page of Romero's article. I looked over your contribution history just to see if there might be some reason why you feel like you're always being reverted. While I didn't look at each of your actual changes, I do have one suggestion that might help. It looks like, for all of your edits, you're not leaving an "edit summary." In case you're not familiar with the feature, at the bottom of the editing window is a second, one line box that is labeled "Edit summary (Briefly describe the changes you have made)". The purpose of this box is for editors to explain why they made the changes they did. So, if you look at the history, you'll see things like "added new information" or "corrected continent for Indonesia" or "reverted vandalism" or "removed dubious fact" or thousands of other different messages. The point is that these messages help others know why changes have been made. Sometimes, when there is no edit message, and the reason for the change isn't immediately obvious, others may suspect the edit was vandalism, or just that it wasn't made for a clear reason. Giving these reasons will really help people understand the purpose of each edit you make. Now, I'm not promising this will make your edits not get changed--the very definition of a collaborative editing process means that, over time, people contributions will be altered and possibly even removed. But in the case of the Romero article, if you leave an edit summary, no one should alter your edit, as it is factually correct. If you have any questions, please let me know.
