WDSE is a Wisconsin Public Television Affiliate

edit

WDSE Certainly is an affiliate of WPT - Wisconsin Public Television. This is the transmitter that brings non-commercial programming to NW Wisconsin from Superior to Ashland, a rather large part of the state. WPT programming is provided to NW Wisconsin by WDSE on a non-duplicated, exclusive basis. As is the case of the other WPT transmitters, WPT programming is delivered live to WDSE 24 X 7 via common carrier and microwave from the WPT network ops center in Madison. In addition, WDSE's digital transmitter; WDSE-DT carries the Datacast Wisconsin signal, provided by WPT, on a full time basis. WDSE receives funding support from the State of Wisconsin for providing these services to the residents of Wisconsin. WDSE is also a member of MPTA - Minnesota Public Television Association. As a border station, WDSE's provides non-commercial programming to residents of both Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Affiliate – A broadcast station not owned by a network but airing its programs and commercials. - Nielsen Media (the TV ratings people) http://www.nielsenmedia.com/glossary/terms/A/index.htm

By any and every stretch of the definition, WDSE is an affiliate of the Wisconsin Public Television Network. So please, refrain from deleting useful, interesting and factual information

Wisconsin Public Television

edit

I have reverted your last edit because it is made clear by the placing in the grid and the footnote that it is known those two stations are not part of the network; however as they carry instructional programming and some news specials, they are provided programming by the network, thus meeting the barest definition of the word affiliate. To not mention them within the article is a disservice to the information provided in the article, because they do carry that programming. Also, we need cites on when the translators will provide a digital signal; there are none listed, so until the FCC database lists the digital translators as active, we will not post that they may have their digital signals turned on by 2/17/09, as any information and even the transition date can change at any time.

Also, I would read up on WP:COI in case you have some involvement with the network; it is frowned on if you are an employee of that organization to edit an article of which you have an interest in. Thank you. Nate (chatter) 05:48, 23 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please stop. If you continue to blank out or delete portions of page content, templates or other materials from Wikipedia, as you did to Wisconsin Public Television, you will be blocked from editing. I have done all that I can to break apart the affiliated stations and disclaim they have no relationship to the network beyond airing those programs and appease you, and that content should remain as the programming takes up a large part of those station's schedules. Please stop removing the information, because it is correct and accurate. Again, please read WP:COI; the fact is we are a neutral encyclopedia that encourages this kind of information to be presented, and whatever conflicts you might have with the stations that carry their programming should be left at the door. Thank you. Nate (chatter) 21:12, 17 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have posted a topic about this to WT:TVS. Nate (chatter) 21:58, 17 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
