Need help with user Urshyam edit

Sundar - since you are active on the India-related articles, I need your help. user:Urshyam went and did something very, very bad - he forked the whole featured content process (Featured articles, pictures, and lists) into the india portal domain, basically by copying and pasting them. As you (or virtually any other regular wikipedian knows) this is just off-the-wall ridiculous. I've mass nominated them for deletion (Wikipedia:Miscellany_for_deletion#Portal_India_featured-content_fork) and while you can never be sure how these things will turn out, I am confident they'll be deleted. However, I'm pretty sure Urshyam (whose probably put a lot of work into these things) will be upset by the deletion, and rather than just barelling over him, I'd much rather work with him and make him understand why these things are bad to begin with. Raul654 18:01, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Also, note that for Portal:India Today's featured article/January 2006 through Portal:India Today's featured article/December 2006 (which is used to list pages scheduled for the india portal) 0 I have no objection to the article besides the name (calling them featured articles when they are not, in fact, featured articles). So for those 12 pages, I'm OK with renaming it instead of deleting it. Raul654 18:03, 25 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Sundar! Thanks for your suggestion. I am really sorry for creating articles named as "Featured articles". I have recreated the articles named as "Selected articles". Please don't say now that this also can not be named because i have spent so much time first for "Featured articles" and then for "Selected articles". Please allow me to proceed in my work and suggest me further. Thanks -- Shyam (T/C) 08:21, 27 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for suggesting about Notice Board. I didn't have any idea about this and which issue should be discussed there. I always try to do discuss the issues related to India. Thank you for approving this name. Just have a look - Portal:India Selected articles. -- Shyam (T/C) 08:33, 27 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks edit

Thanks, Sundar. If Bangalore is a featured article today, it is to the credit of people like yourself and Pamri who played an active role during and post PR to help drive quality into the article. AreJay 02:43, 28 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Holi greetings edit

Hi, I am wishing you a happy Holi, the unique Indian celebration of color and brotherhood among all members of the humanity. The festival falls on 15th March 2006. I have collected A Gift Pack of Quotationsfor you contained in the sections DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY and SOMETHING MORE, which are part of the on-going discussion pertaining to my nomination of Idleguy for adminship. You are aware of the tradition that if you throw colored water on flames of burning Holika, you enable a Prahlad to emerge from the flames!!! I again convey Holi greetings to you and your family!!! --Bhadani 14:29, 4 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Esteem edit

Greetings, lowering or upgrading the esteem of a particular user is of no use – we all should always have the good faith though you will find sometimes the people shouting from the roof tops about the good faith turn out to be so feeble and devoid of integrity sometimes that they choose to behave with the fellow wikipedians as if they were dealing with war criminals in the Nuremberg Trials. This is on account of cultural divide to which Idleguy fell prey. May God Save the King and the Wikipedia! I am of the strong opinion that several users have entered wikipedia to sabotage the Project. --Bhadani 15:00, 8 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Infrastructural concerns in Bangalore edit

Hi Sundar, I need your assistance with this article. As you will remember, I had moved the section from the old Bangalore article to this new article. Today (3/8), questions were raised by anon IPs about the integrity of the information because of a lack of cited sources - a valid point. However, they decided to put {{unencyclopaedic}}, {{unsourced}}, {{Sensationalism}}, {{TotallyDisputed}} and {{noncompliant}} tags on this article. One of the anons argues with me that the assertion that Bangalore faces infrastructural challenges is not a fact, and that it is just my personal opinon! Moreover, the anons have adopted a less than constructive tone of engagement on the issue — one that borders on being patronizing and accusatory. I am quite frustrated and sick at having to deal with them. Valid constructive criticism, I will readilly accept. But criticism merely because they do not like that fact that these less than glamorous issues of the city are being discussed is something that I cannot deal with. Can you please review the article and provide your thoughts on my referncing, the style of the composition of the article and what I should do about the anon IPs ceaseless hysteria. Thanks AreJay 04:45, 9 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Sundar for your advice. I agree, it is best not to feed the trolls. As such, there has been minimal activity today on their collective part and I have chosen not to reignite the fire. AreJay 05:05, 10 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I agree — thanks for your help. You were also correct about the TFA (the FAC director chose a straight sampling of the lead (which is what you said would happen) rather than an adapted version). I also hope the Idleguy RFA was not to stressful for you — I saw that you were reverted yesterday when trying to comment; I agree w/ your subsequent complaint. Take care. Portal:India edit

Hi Sundar, I need your advise on Portal India. The article is currently WP:FPCAN and objections have been raised about the Selected Article fork. Specifically, the issue now is that the fork points to Portal:India Today's Selected Article — a completely different page from the intended correct page Portal:India/Today's Selected Article. Based on these objections, I would like to move Portal:India Today's Selected Article and all sub-pages associated with it to Portal:India/Today's Selected Article. I am unsure if such a blanket move can be accomplished through the "move" button. Can you please advise? Thanks! AreJay 21:10, 23 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

User:Ganeshk experimented on his sandbox and got the answer to that question — no this aparently can't be done. Please let me know of any thoughts you may have regarding the selected article stream. User:Urshyam heads up this section of the portal, and I have provided my thoughts on his talk page on the issue. Thanks, Sundar! AreJay 04:36, 24 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Request,Nomination for removal Khalistan article edit

Hello Sir I'm nominating this page for deletion because it is written with a point of view , excessive use of unreliable sources.and the title "Khalistan" is wrong for the topic because "Khalistan" does not exist, lack of support from resident Punjabi's and Sikhs in India, but there was a "Movement for Khalistan" and that is the right title for the topic, and i think this whole article "a new name" should be rewritten with the help of people from sikh community "in" India and other Indians, because this topic is related to politics/people of India. We all should understand Khalistan is not a political entity and having a article is not justified, Microsoft Encarta and Britannic encyclopedia don't have an article known as "Khalistan" but they do have articles on the movement that took place decades back, and i think there are also copyright issues involved with this article because big parts of this article are written on other peoples research. Many reliable sources are used to show "one side" of their view on the topic, there are also indications that organisations banned by US and EU are involved in providing their research on the movement.I am a strong supporter to have a stub on this topic , but im afraid that such articles on wikipedia have become mouthpieces for organisation which are known for disrupting peace (assassination of one of india's prime minister, twin bomb blast in New Delhi on the eve of Diwali) in Indian sub continent. This article requires your attention , please help. Anmol.2k4 18:28, 24 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
