Hi Sullyj4, welcome to Wikipedia.

I noticed your question on the irreducible complexity talk page about the development of wings, which does seem extraordinary. If you look at flying squirrels they glide by having a web of skin between their fore and hind limbs. It is easy enough to see how those ordinary sqirrels which happened to have more of a web would survive better by being able to jump a little further and how this could develop over millions of years. Bat are another branch of mammals which have progressed much further down that road. Dinosaurs which had developed feathers for insulation in colder climates must have gone through a similar jumping/gliding/flying progression to evolve into birds. I hope this helps.--Charles (talk) 08:18, 20 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
