Image:Cagesposter.jpg listed for deletion
editIf you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.
If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.
If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. —Pilotguy (radio check) 01:54, 3 February 2007 (UTC)Possibly unfree Image:BobbyTonelli-picture.jpg

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Cagesposter.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:Cagesposter.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 17:55, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

editThanks for uploading Image:Ethan-blue.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:52, 18 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 19:52, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Ethan-blue.jpg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Ethan-blue.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 19:52, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of Daniel Boey
editHi. I deleted the page as it was simply a redirect to a user page from the main space. Feel free to recreate it, as long as it's an article not a redirect. If you need any help, just ask! Happy Editing. Pedro : Chat 12:06, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- The article when I deleted it was the following; #REDIRECT [[User:Succisa75/Daniel Boey]] - In other words typing in the name of the article redirected to your user sub-page. Redirects from the article space to user space are not really allowed on Wikipedia. Your actual article is still at User:Succisa75/Daniel Boey but I deleted the redirect. Does that help? Re: Deletion of article Daniel Boey
editCan you direct me to where the discussion took place? Was it in the talk page of the original article? ... discospinster talk 03:48, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
- OK I will move it back, but try to get a few more English-language sources. One of the external link provided comes up with a server error and another one only goes to Motorola website and doesn't mention Daniel Boey. ... discospinster talk 04:12, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
Re: Additional resources for Daniel Boey
editThose are good sources, except Press clippings which gives me a "404 Not Found" error. ... discospinster talk 14:18, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Daniel Boey
editA tag has been placed on Daniel Boey, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Kesh (talk) 23:13, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
It's my understanding that the page, Daniel Boey, has been recreated and deleted on seven separate occasions. The page is currently protected from editing (and creation) by user who are non-administrators. The page unfortunately can't be restored to the mainspace and protected from deletion by another administrator, there is simply no function on Wikipedia - I also doubt that even if there was, it would be very rarely used. I hope this helps. Rudget. 18:13, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- Not really, I don't think it will be re-created again. Rudget. 18:18, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
Re: Please help me with the Daniel Boey Article
editHi. Unfortuately for some, due to the nature of Wikipedia, things like this will happen. My opinion does not have any more weight than anyone else's, so I can't really unprotect the page unilaterally. There is no way at all for me to protect it against other administrators, and I wouldn't want to start a civil war, especially since I am a new admin.
The only thing I can think of, if you really think the article belongs on Wikipedia, is to go to deletion review and argue that there was not enough discussion in the original Article for Deletion debate (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Daniel Boey) and that there are more and better references since then. ... discospinster talk 20:53, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
I had tagged the main Article space version for deletion because it still substantially read as a resumé and not an encyclopedic article. However, I did not realize someone deleted the version you were working on in your User space, which I disagree with. I have said as much in the DRV. By the way, I had to fix the formatting on the DRV. There's a specific template you're supposed to use there, so I put it in for you. -- Kesh (talk) 22:35, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

- If you didn't take the picture, how come you own it? Did you buy it from the photographer? Also, yes, I realise Wikipedia's image guidelines can seem very complicated, and a lot of people don't understand them, but that's because our goal of being a 'free' encyclopedia is a complicated one, and, sadly, because copyright law is very complicated anyway. Speedy deletion nomination of Sherby
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Sherby requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. —Theopolisme 00:30, 7 December 2012 (UTC)
