Request reason:

Hello, I understand that I have been banned indefinitely for citing WholesGame. I am not sure why this was a problem. I am a staff writer at WholesGame. I have deep knowledge of the video games industry and have been writing and consulting for over 12 years. Before writing an article I do thorough research on a topic, and by the time I finish an article I have a lot to say about the topic. For that reason, I've started contributing to Wikipedia recently. I mostly contribute on topics that I've already researched and written about. And in my contributions I've cited articles that I've written myself. As I am sure of and can be responsible for any word that I wrote in them. I did not know that one cannot cite only one website. I have not spent enough time reading the guidelines, for which I am guilty and apologize. But I don't think indefinite ban, and especially the removal of all the contributions is a reasonable and fair punishment for that. I am concerned not so much about being banned, I would probably not continue contributing anymore after what has happened and how I got treated. But I am very worried that User ferret has removed all the citations of WholesGame, not only mine but all of the other users. The citations of WholesGame have been made by different users not only me, for over six years. WholesGame is an expert information website for video game businesses. They publish a lot of information that is important for conducting business by developers, publishers, wholesalers, and retailers. Especially for small businesses. It is no surprise that the information published on its pages has been numerously cited on Wikipedia as well as on many other media resources through many years. I am also disgusted that the word "spam" has been written in comments of all the removals next to removed WholesGame citations, which in fact labels Wholesgame as being the spammers. I've informed WholesGame's management today what has happened, and they said that this incident may significantly damage their reputation. User ferret labeled "spam" in his comments all over removed WholesGame citations. I understand this is only because when I contributed to Wikipedia I've cited my articles that I've written on Wholesgame. Punishing WholesGame because of this is too far stretched. I request to revise this decision. You can keep my ban if you find it necessary, as I mentioned I am not inclined to contribute any more in these circumstances. But I want to clear Wholesgame's name as this whole problem has happened because of me, WholesGame has nothing to do with it. The word "spam" should be deleted from the comments in all removals next to WholesGame's name. This is clearly defamation. And I also request to recover the citations made by other users. WholesGame says they had many citations by others. Now they are all gone! Even the ones made years ago. Different users spent time and effort and contributed to Wikipedia, and their work of several years just got wiped off by an unreasonable punishment as one of the recent contributors (myself) was not good enough. And most importantly I feel terrible because WholesGame, who provided a platform for my articles, being innocent, suffers because of me. This is not fair at all. I request a review and a fair decision. Thank you. Studycor (talk) 22:49, 2 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

This is explicitly not an unblock request. And come off it, defamation? If you believe you've been the victim of defamation, please contact info-en-q@wikipedia.org. But labelling your violation of WP:COI, WP:PAID, WP:PROMO, and WP:SPAM as spam is, frankly, not defamation. Regardless, this looks to be the end of the line. I've revoked talk page access. This leaves you with WP:UTRS if you change your mind. Yamla (talk) 23:03, 2 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
