Cricket

edit

I am obsessed with cricket.

  • Welcome from me as well. As for your question - my interest in cricket comes from having a severe attack of anglophilia, along with a general interest in sports results and statistics. So when I found cricket, I tried to teach myself the rules, found it interesting, and now I think a lot (not about the technical side of the game, mind) Sam Vimes 11:50, 29 November 2005 (UTC)Reply
  • Can't watch Sky Sports in Norway - Sky have some problems with rights, so can't send to people who don't have an address in Norway. Usually I keep up through radio or text commentary. Sam Vimes 12:01, 29 November 2005 (UTC)Reply
  • Me too. As for your comment on my talk page, I am perfectly happy to address any concerns you (or anyone else) has about the articles, as long as it's not insisting that something be done by a certain person. My initial suggestion that you add the info to other pages was in the context of you saying we must add it if we kept it there, and was not intended to mean I expected you to do it. If you can't accept that that is what I meant, then I do not see any point in continuing the discussion on that topic. JPD 12:06, 29 November 2005 (UTC)Reply
You said "Better to answer his (sic) queries". I believe I have answered all the queries, other than the latest comments about me saying "go ahead and add it to other cricketers". I have tried to explain that this was not an "order" to add it, or an "expectation" that it would happen, but this hasn't been understood. There is nothing more I can say. Re: Northern beaches line

edit

No worries. Once a page is nominated for deletion, there is a vote held at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Northern Beaches rail line, Sydney. You might like to go there and vote, saying what you said at the talk page. JPD 10:19, 30 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Dr Kevin Tay

edit

You do not make a great claim for Dr Tay's notability as an alumnus of Sydney Technical High School. His achievement in the International Chemistry Olympiad makes, possibly, his High School academic career notable, but does not make him a notable alumnus. But many students win different competitions of different magnitudes during high school- indeeed, a University Medal is probably a much more prestigious honour, but its recipients are rarely noted by Wikipedia or in encyclopedias elsewhere for this alone. And, unlike more prominent competitions, it would not seem appropriate to list all IChO Gold medalists in its Wikipedia article. jnothman talk 16:08, 30 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fitter's NRL prediction

Although I support the Penrith Panthers, I think the Melbourne Storm will win it this year! Steven Fitter 14:26, 23 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Mount Druitt, New South Wales

edit

I am interested in collaborating on this article. It is easier to gather bare current facts than pre-internet history though... even Blacktown City Council doesn't have much to say about Mount Druitt beyond who Major Druitt was (there's someone who should be able to give us a history section in himself?). I am interested into why there is a RAAF memorial park basically on top of Mount Druitt, I guess there should be some info in that somewhere. Maybe there is a plaque or something? I know there is a workers club, even though they aren't right in the suburb maybe they have some labour movement historical information which could come on here.

Tell me what you think? --Garrie 06:27, 25 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

D'oh! after seeing your comment there I was a bit hopeful. I see you seem to have a pretty good eye for picking out cruft and identifying where some facts need verification etc. I might have to keep you in mind when I get half finished with some of my suburb, MP and electorate articles!
Thanks for the comment on the original article though.
