We have guidelines on notability for organizations, including a section on non-commercial organizations. These guidelines define what is and is not notable in Wikipedia. Intelligentsium 02:35, 25 November 2009 (UTC)

(e/c) Hi Steve. Please read Wikipedia:Notability as well as a subject specific notability guideline applicable here, Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). Notability here does not have the vernacular meaning. Notability here means recognition by the wider world by substantive treatment in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Parse those words carefully. The charity's own website is not independent nor are places printing press releases and so on. Reliable sources means just what you would expect: newspapers, non-vanity published books, television shows, documentaries, magazine articles and so on (not wikis, blogs, unrecognized websites, etc.). Significant means we are not looking for sources here that mention the subject in passing but those that discuss it in some depth. The best way you can respond to the articles for deletion debate is to cite to reliable, independent sources in the article and expand its content using them. Note also, that just because an article has been taken to AFD does not mean that it will be deleted. Others may look for sources and find them, but if you care, don't wait.
