Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you.--John (talk) 18:05, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Inserting your own website URL into articles

Hi. I don't know if you are aware, but it is not permissible to insert external links to websites you have developed into Wikipedia articles, even if the link may prove to be a valuable source of information. The guideline on conflict of interest goes some way to explaining why, also the one on insertion of linkspam, although I assume that this does not apply to your good faith edits to such articles as David Bowie. I have reverted your edits in line with the guidelines, and suggest that you approach the article's interested editors (which you will find by clicking the History tab at the top), or post to the relevant article talk page to ask if someone would consider your site a valuable resource for the article in question, then let them insert it. Thanks. Ref (chew)(do) 18:10, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

  •   This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you insert a spam link, as you did to Bruce Springsteen, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted as well, preventing anyone from linking to them from all of Wikipedia.

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Prince. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.
