February 2024 edit

Hello, I'm Philipnelson99. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Renault Espace—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Hello Phillip, wonder if you can answer my question.
Is there an age restriction to using Wikipedia?
Example, could a school child use Wikipedia for researching a topic without having to verify age? Sterling Moth (talk) 21:19, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to Tesco Clubcard. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Repeated vandalism can result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Philipnelson99 (talk) 21:59, 7 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Oooo, I can reply here too.
Hi.
Vandalism, that insinuates me as a vandal. Are both my edits fact? Yes. Do people crave fact? Probably. Am I a vandal? No.
I hope you can sleep later knowing that people may now live in the misconception that Albert Einstein had a Tesco Clubcard, and Napoleon was once driving around in his Renault Espace.
Fiiiiiiiine, I won't do it again. Sterling Moth (talk) 22:24, 7 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia. signed, Willondon (talk) 22:23, 7 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Getting vandalism thrown at me left right and centre here. Firstly, cool your jets.
Is it though?
It is fact..... but equally it is not as quoted from your link "deliberately intended to obstruct or defeat the project's purpose,"
Where is your proof my intentions were deliberate?
Where is evidence to suggest Albert Einstein had a Tesco Clubcard or the Napoleon rocked about in a Renault Espace? Hmmmmmmm?
As I was already responding to another throwing "vandal" at me, you chimed in.
So, I will say the same to you.
Fiiiiiiiine, I won't do it again.
Answer me this. That Sandbox, to get used to editing etc, how regularly is it cleared? Don't want to be halfway through trial and error, and it get wiped. Sterling Moth (talk) 22:32, 7 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Quick enough to come down on me with your vandalism allegations, but delayed in replying.
Hope you are finding the evidence I requested about Albert and his mythical Tesco Clubcard.
I am going to ask another question, but I am not holding my breath on a reply.

Hi @Sterling Moth! Phillipnelson99, Willondon, and most other editors on Wikipedia focus on making sure the information in articles is correct and up-to-date rather than answering questions about vandalism. Everyone who comes here is volunteering their time and effort so that Wikipedia is the best source of information we can make it.
Anyone can edit Wikipedia, even a school child. The trick is that for your edits to stay in place, you must only put relevant information that comes from reliable sources. For example, telling people that Einstein did not have a Tesco Clubcard is not relevant and does not come from a reliable source, so it gets deleted. If you had found some new, useful and reliable information about the Tesco Clubcard - maybe you read an old newspaper article that described another incident where the card was found to be vulnerable - and you wanted to add that, with proper sourcing, that would probably stay up.
When people make lots of silly edits just because it seems funny, other editors get frustrated at the waste of time and effort - remember, everyone is volunteering! Those frustrated editors leave warnings, and if those warnings are ignored, an administrator will end up blocking the person making the silly edits. Then you can't edit Wikipedia again until you understand what you did wrong, and can say truthfully that you won't do those things again. It's not fair to everyone working hard on Wikipedia to make a mess of articles, because someone has to clean up after you when they would like to be reading or writing about other things.
If you want to experiment without worrying about the sandbox getting cleared out - and it looks like that happens every couple of hours - you can have your very own sandbox! Click here and your sandbox will be created. Remember that you can't use the sandbox to just write silly things; if you do, it will probably be deleted and you will probably be blocked, and then you can't edit Wikipedia at all any more. You can use your sandbox to test how editing works, and even to write drafts of what you think would be useful to add to articles. Remember that if you want to add anything to an article, you need to find a reliable source first!
I hope these answers help you, and that you will understand Wikipedia a bit better. StartGrammarTime (talk) 11:18, 10 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
