Icelandic submissions for Academy Award for Best Foreign Film

It seems that we both stated this page simultaneously... Please consider my version below: it already has all titles in both English and Icelandic, and all imdb links. --Explendido Rocha 13:08, 10 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
(Table deleted 15:47, 15 February 2007 (UTC))

Thanks, the only changes I made were taking out double links on directors, adding links to some of the movies and changing some imdb links from uk to www. Thanks again. --Steinninn 13:17, 10 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Icelandic film

Hello there in Iceland! Thankyou for adding the List of Icelandic films. Great! Feel free to expand the Cinema of Iceland page I started. Cheers! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 22:14, 16 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello in Japan!! THanks for your kind words. I don't know what it is but I love the scenery of Iceland -Greenland too I also find fascinating, would love to visit both someday. Best thing is to google image the films -this is what I do. I also started Gunnar Sommerfeldt -you may have heard of him perhaps. One thing I would really appreciate is if you could work on the List of Japanese films which are grossly under developed. I have an enitre list of missing Japanese films for wikipedia if this will help. First though I beleive the films in Category:Japanese films need to be put into the sunnary tables and the details on director/actor etc wwritten in THis would ba great help if you could do this. Hey how come an Icelander is living in Japan? Rich? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 08:08, 27 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Actually it is OK to have one or two film posters in the Cinema of pages providing the rationale is written in. They help improve an understanding of the cinema -see all the other Cinema of pages. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 08:12, 27 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I live in Highlight Park, Barry, Wales but consider myself English. Lovely relaxing part - farm house next to my houses and the meadows of the Vale of Glamorgan. I have an attic room looking all across!!! I am part Swedish part Jewish. My real surname is Anderson the english spelling of the nordic name Andersen ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 08:50, 27 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

RE:Chinese -> English

Once again Tarantino and his trying to be azn... tsk tsk. :p

什麼最壞能發生 is a verbatim (ie. ungrammatical) E->C translation of "what's the worst that can happen". And Tarantino is the "supervisor and manufacturer", Eli Roth is apparently the "write and orchestrate brain". The little words between the tagline and "Hostel" says that if I know Chinese I should keep the meaning of the line a secret. Or something. But you didn't ask for those translations so I'll stop ranting. In Mandarin the tagline would be pronounced "shen mer tsui huai neng fa sheng".

Your translation for the second phrase is correct, it means "Man like (as in similar) me; woman like (also "similar") you". The correct way to write it in simplified Chinese is "我这样的男人 你这样的女人", you wrote the traditional form for "这" and used a "God" radical (示) instead of the "tree" radical (木). Pronunciation: "wo jer yang (German ang sound) de nan ren, ni jer yang (same thing) de nü (German ü sound) ren". -- 我♥中國 03:51, 20 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you're looking for the Japanese transliteration for the Hostel stuff I can't help you there. If you're looking for the Chinese transliteration for that Norwegian film, it's what I wrote but change both "jer" to "zhe" if you want it in official pinyin format. -- 我♥中國 15:29, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh, yes I made a mistake there. The first "zhe" can be written both ways, and the character below it is "na" and you had the correct character. My bad. -- 我♥中國 19:34, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Knight Of The Living Dead.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Knight Of The Living Dead.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

For some reason the image description I saw didn't include the source. And I tried to load the link that was there (not the one included in your message to me, which worked) but it didn't work. Hence, I reverted it to the one that matched the description. Icelandic rating system

Hi. Thanks for updating my image of icelandic rating systems. I read your story on how you got the username. I'll tell you a similar story. Usualy when someone talks about the third Matrix movie, they say Revolution. Seams ok, NO, it's not. It's Revolutions. re: system messages

Usually, the best way to change the software like that is to modify the SVN version, then file a bug at bugzilla, and attach a patch. Let me know if you need any help with that; adding a few messages should be fairly straightforward. -Steve Sanbeg 15:20, 8 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

The en messages would be the complete one, since any new message would be put there. What I think you want is to edit the is messages, and add any that are present in en but not in is. Then you need to deliver it somehow. The preferred format for that is a diff, so whoever applies it doesn't have to worry about overwriting any changes that may have happened while you were working; that would usually be filed in bugzilla. If you want to put the whole file on ftp, you should remember which revision the file was at before you changed it. -Steve Sanbeg 19:24, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Eh, I think you should discuss what you plan to do in the talk pages first. I could be wrong, but I find the information to be rather trivial. The Filmaker 06:37, 19 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Splitting of Kill Bill

That was a very flawed count if you got 14 to 17. I just checked again and it is currently tied at exactly 17 to 17. I probably should have ended the count a month or more ago (when there was a clear majority in favor of splitting the article by the way), but I just never got around to it.

I also would urge you to reconsider your vote. The current set up of having both films on one page is sloppy and spoiler ridden (and the situation just seems to be getting worse). Also, every other main-stream listing (imdb, all-movie, rotten tomatoes, etc) has it as two films. Wikipedia is not the place to be making fan-boyish statements about how the franchise "should" be treated. -- Grandpafootsoldier 21:02, 26 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Love is.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Love is.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

There hasn't been a TfD on all 0-level templates, so currently that is acceptable to have. Personally I think it should be in the userspace, however, as I don't see how 0-level language templates help the encyclopedia (just like the 0-level categories do not). The template should definitely not add people to the deleted category, though. VegaDark (talk) 03:57, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I wasn't referring to that category, although I do agree that it doesn't make sense for those types of userboxes to add users to the category. If you wanted to delete that part out too, I doubt you would have complaints. VegaDark (talk) 04:17, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Iceland-road.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[2][3]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

Fair use rationale for Image:Imdb07.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Imdb07.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

It's the developers who do it, I'm afraid I don't know how it is done so you probably want to ask in the #wikimedia-tech IRC channel on freenode. What, that one line. Not a big deal I think. Don't you think that we should have Forsíða in Icelandic and the Faroese somewhere els? After all, there are like 4 icelandic speakers for every single faroese speaker. Do you have another word for Forsíða? --Steinninn 13:03, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

OK, i have a compromise. We do like the Spanish which have four different languages which share the word "Main Page", they create one "Main Page" which links to "Main Page/Ca", "Main Page/Es", etc. Thus, we create one page "Forsíða" which links to "Forsíða/Is" and "Forsíða/Fo". uackor 14:19, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I was not infact the original creator of Image:Admin mop.PNG, rather I fixed an existing image. That said, happy to help out :-) I've done a few of them, but I see that User:Angela had to be approached previously to permit use of the wikipedia logo (copyrighted), so I'm asking her about use of the othe rproject images for this to create a series of "Wiki??? mop.png" images. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Sigurros Hrafnagaldur.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Sigurros Hrafnagaldur.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:47, 25 September 2007 (UTC) Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:The Juniper Tree.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:The Juniper Tree.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:45, 29 September 2007 (UTC) Reply

heima

hi, there is a confirmation on the cover art for this over here. based on that it looks as if the title will be just heima, rather than SR-heima. would you agree with a move on the article? --L!nus 15:59, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, I'm stuck with the rules IMDb has, that the title card of the opening credits should be used. I'm still trying to get used to the different rules of Wikipedia. That it, the title that the majority of english speaking people would use. In this case, yes, Heima would probably be it. At the moment I agree with the move. --Steinninn 16:04, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
moved+i also fixed the links. --L!nus 17:10, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
You should not have change the interwiki links. One hadn't been created and the other was a redirect. --Steinninn 17:14, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Nickel Mountain.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Nickel Mountain.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use.

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
