Proposed deletion of File:Henry Lowther Clarke.png

The file File:Henry Lowther Clarke.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

JPEG version now available at File:Henry Lowther Clarke by Walter Stoneman.jpg

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 4 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia Wars and the Israel-Palestine conflict...please fill out my survey?

Hello :) I am writing my MA dissertation on Wikipedia Wars and the Israel-Palestine conflict, and I noticed that you have contributed to those pages. My dissertation will look at the process of collaborative knowledge production on the Israel-Palestine conflict, and the effect it has on bias in the articles. This will involve understanding the profiles and motivations of editors, contention/controversy and dispute resolution in the talk pages, and bias in the final article.

For more information, you can check out my meta-wiki research page or my user page, where I will be posting my findings when I am done.

I would greatly appreciate if you could take 5 minutes to fill out this quick survey before 8 August 2021.

Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary and anonymous. There are no foreseeable risks nor benefits to you associated with this project.

Thanks so much,

Sarah Sanbar

Reverse racism

Greetings. I've undone your edit to Reverse racism. Categorization must be strictly neutral, because categories are presented without any context. Nor is "racism" a defining characteristic according to the sources. It's a bit like putting Moon landing in Category:Hoaxes because a belief exists that the moon landings were faked. --Sangdeboeuf (talk) 01:02, 4 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Christ Church (Moscow, Idaho)

I have partially undone your revert to Christ Church (Moscow, Idaho). I left out the wording "Extreme" and "treating women like slaves", but I left in the issues that are explicitly discussed in the cited sources. Moreover, these are not "opinion pieces", the Guardian article is in the news section, not the opinion section, and the Vice article is an investigative piece. As far as any issues of undue weight in the lead, views such as these and certain actions by its members are the issues that have garnered the church the most mainstream media attention. That being said, if you feel Vice's investigative reporting on the church is inaccurate, we can discuss that. According to the article in Vice, the teachings referred to in the lead are taken directly from Wilson's book Father Hunger, so unless they are taking the quotes out of context or completely fabricating them, there should be no problem. If you believe that this is what they are doing, that is an issue that should be raised at Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard.--Tdl1060 (talk) 12:00, 20 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, that's a lot better. The thing is, Oxford University Press published a book this year that is largely about the church (Crawford Gribben, Survival and Resistance in Evangelical America: Christian Reconstruction in the Pacific Northwest) which is not mentioned in the article at all, and which has a very different view to that of the two newspaper articles. So it means the article is rather imbalanced. StAnselm (talk) 14:18, 20 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
I added that book as a source in the article, as well as a few things about the church that are mentioned in it. If there is anything else in that book, or any other source, that you think would provide balance, feel free to add them.--Tdl1060 (talk) 01:10, 21 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

In the future

I'm planning on a discussion (maybe RFC) concerning those categories. But, will consider it on a later date. PS - There's inconsistencies among all of governors-general categories. GoodDay (talk) 22:10, 30 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, fair enough. My position is that we should not take an official position on it here at Wikipedia. StAnselm (talk) 22:18, 30 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
I may open an RFC on in next month, concerning all the commonwealth realms that have governors-general. GoodDay (talk) 22:20, 30 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Actually, an RFC was held in 2016 (which you were a part of) & the result was that the Australian monarch is the Australia's head of state. So, your revert went against that RFC. GoodDay (talk) 22:10, 4 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps. But GGs remained in the HoS category, where it had been since about 2007. StAnselm (talk) 22:17, 4 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
No, they should be removed in compliance with the 2016 RFC. Are you gonna be difficult about this 'again'? GoodDay (talk) 22:21, 4 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
No, but I think another RfC would be appropriate. Five years is a long time to wait to follow up an RfC. StAnselm (talk) 22:33, 4 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
I have a feeling the GG website has changed from five years ago. It now says "The Governor-General of Australia is Her Majesty The Queen’s representative. In practice, they are Australia’s Head of State and have a range of constitutional and ceremonial duties.". StAnselm (talk) 22:36, 4 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Irrelevant. The GG website could claim the GG is the King of Australia or President of Australia. The website changes nothing. The Australian monarch is Australia's head of state. GoodDay (talk) 22:40, 4 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

...for your past participation in checking and maintaining the Wayne Grudem page. I wanted to let you know that I did a major edit today, to (one hopes) stimulate its continued movement toward compliance with WP referencing guidelines. I would love to see someone such as yourself, with greater theological interests/training, to help move it away from having most content non-independent or unsourced. Note, the amount of unsourced material was, and despite my effort, continues to be egregious. Good holidays coming. Cheers. 2601:246:C700:558:C0AF:65B0:4E1:45E8 (talk) 23:34, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

First of all, welcome! I'm not sure how long you've been editing Wikipedia, but I would encourage you to open an account. To be honest, that makes your edits much more likely to stick. That's not the way it's supposed to be, but it's the reality. You added a lot of tags to the article - some of those unsourced claims can just be removed straight away. And it's kind of ironic that you're asking me for assistance, since you deleted my most recent addition to the article (that of the Festschrift). Why did you do that? StAnselm (talk) 17:53, 2 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

New Calvinism

Do you think the lede on this article is fair, given it's sourced from criticisms, rather than what mainstream Calvinists reject (fatalism)? On another note, I'm wondering if a new article should be created (or expanded in existing articles) focusing on Calvinists who reject covenant theology such as John Macarthur? —Confession0791 talk 04:20, 14 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

No, I don't it's a good lead - I've never been happy with these recent changes, but I wasn't sure what to do about it. I think the first step is to see what Olsen actually says. StAnselm (talk) 04:25, 14 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Who's Olsen? —Confession0791 talk 04:29, 14 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, that was a typo - Roger E. Olson was referenced in the lead as saying that New Calvinism's distinctives were "fatalism, Lordship Salvation, and subordinationism" - but I think someone just made that up. StAnselm (talk) 04:37, 14 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, it needs to be changed. I do want to expand on dispensational Calvinism, since it's pretty prevalent and doesn't neatly fit under "new Calvinism". So if you have any ideas, let me know. —Confession0791 talk 04:47, 14 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
