Hi Sylvanna! It looks like you've been doing lots of research and work for your article! I am eager to see how you include the information you were wondering about, such as climate and geography, etc. I also love the picture you included. I had trouble with that too! I think to get one of the little pictures on the side, instead of inserting the "image" from Wikimedia, choose the other option that you could copy and paste- "Thumbnail". This includes the smaller version of the image and also helps with formatting. :) I think one way to help link to another wikipedia article would be to put two brackets around the article on both sides, and then publish! When published, it looks like this: Sierra Nevada (U.S.). I can't wait to see what else you do! Good luck! :) -Hannah Hhull45 (talk) 04:13, 19 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

The Eastern Sierra is a region in California comprising the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada, which includes Mono and Inyo Counties. The main thoroughfare is U.S. Route 395, which passes through Bridgeport, Lee Vining, Bishop, Big Pine, Independence, Lone Pine, and Olancha, with Bishop being the largest city in the area. It is sparsely populated but well known for its scenery; major points of interest include Mono Lake, Bodie, Mammoth Lakes, Manzanar, and parts of Yosemite National Park and Death Valley National Park.

  • First off I want to include a picture of the Eastern Sierra Nevadas.

I got into the Wikimedia Commons and found a picture that is already approved to use on Wikipedia

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Eastern_Sierra_Nevada_Mountains_from_the_Tungsten_Blue_Mine_in_the_Tungsten_Hills,_Looking_S-SW,_Inyo_Co.,_CA_-_panoramio.jpg

Now I am going to try and figure out how to insert this picture into the article. I think this is a way to do it?

If not here is a link to the website

When I did the research on how to do this, the short guide on editing Wikipedia can in handy! That is where I got all of the info on how to insert a picture properly that was cleared for publication already. I am realizing after looking at this that that did work to insert a picture! However, it is way to large so I need to find out how to insert a smaller picture or better yet how to do one of those little pictures on the side? I want to make sure there is a visual reference in the article. I also really want to link this page to the other page on the Sierra Nevada since they are the same thing essentially and adding how big the highest peak is and what the climate is. That is what I plan on working on this week.

Hey Sylvanna, This looks good! I think your next step is to look at that Sierra Nevada (U.S) page and start drafting headings for Eastern Sierra like it has (Geography, Geology, Climate, Ecology...) You will likely only be able to work on one or two during the course of the class. And that's great! It's way more than there is right now. For next week, start finding out some answers to your questions and drafting a revised introduction to the Eastern Sierra page.

Please don't rely on other websites for sources. In week 6, you'll be introduced to using ebooks through the BC library. Let me know if you have any trouble with that.Springerhe (talk) 23:42, 26 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

This article needs to have an image of where this is located in the world, this website has great pictures. https://www.summitpost.org/sierra-nevada/176773

I honestly have no idea what the difference between the Eastern Sierras and the Sierra Nevada Mountains are, they seem like the same thing on the maps? Is there any difference?

If there is an overlap then I would want to link some information from this other WIKI article about the Sierra Nevada Mountains, it has a lot more info that I would want to incorporate such as what is the highest peek? What are the coordinates? How big is it? Here is that link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sierra_Nevada_(U.S.)

Finally I want to know what the climate it there and what to expect in different regions. Here is a good site that shares that. http://www.sierranevadaphotos.com/geography/sierra_climate.asp

Today I am going to learn how to re-size the image and move it around on the page so it is not taking up the whole article. I also want to link a lot of the places that it references in the last sentence. I will see if I can figure it out.

First I want to start with the re-sizing of the image.

Here is the original article and I will try putting the re-sized picture around it.

Next, I want to add the links for Sierra Nevada, Route 395 and Mono Lake, Bodie, Mammoth Lakes, Manzanar, and parts of Yosemite National Park and Death Valley National Park and I will check the others also and see if they have them in Wikipedia also.

Okay, hoping that I did that right! I do have a question right away though, I was noticing that when I linked a few pages it said that they were a 'Disambiguation page', what does that mean? Also, I am afraid that maybe the links to 'Bishop' and 'Independence' may not b linking to the cities but rather other meanings, how do I check that? It says page exists but is it the right one?

I am pretty sure that all of my links match and that they are the right ones! I have also included a picture of the region that I have resized. I think that this is one of the Final Drafts for me.
