Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Turkish diaspora, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Springer. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hello Sseevv, first of all, thanks for your numerous contributions to Turks in Germany. While going through your edits, I noticed that you have a tendency to add overly long URLs to Google Books in your citations, containing superfluous parameters which needlessly increase page weight and clutter up the wikitext. An example of this would be the following URL:

https://books.google.com/books?id=teZTyiqJIdMC&pg=PA112&dq=If+we+today+give+in+to+demands+for+dual+citizenship,+we+would+soon+have+four,+five,+or+six+million+Turks+in+Germany+instead+of+three+million&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjh8L6gl9PsAhW2DmMBHchpCQsQ6AEwAHoECAIQAg#v=onepage&q=If%20we%20today%20give%20in%20to%20demands%20for%20dual%20citizenship%2C%20we%20would%20soon%20have%20four%2C%20five%2C%20or%20six%20million%20Turks%20in%20Germany%20instead%20of%20three%20million&f=false

The length of URLs like this can be greatly reduced by deleting everything either after the ID (in this case id=teZTyiqJIdMC) or, in case you want to link to a specific page, the pg parameter (in this case, pg=PA112).

https://books.google.com/books?id=teZTyiqJIdMC&pg=PA112

I think you'll agree that this shorter form is preferable, especially as the only information that is lost along the way is your original query, which I find is not something that really belongs on an encyclopedia in the first place. Anyway, thanks for your time! AngryHarpytalk 12:53, 10 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello AngryHarpy, thank you for your message. I agree the urls were long, I didn't realize that we could make them much shorter. Thanks for the feedback! Sseevv (talk) 13:13, 10 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Kaan Kalyon

edit

The article Kaan Kalyon has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Was a working writer for some time, but not enough significant credits to pass WP:CREATIVE.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. edit

Hi Sseevv, this message is not as interesting as the title may sound. Just a minor issue, per WP:SUPERCAT: "Apart from certain exceptions (i.e. non-diffusing subcategories, see below), an article should be categorised as low down in the category hierarchy as possible, without duplication in parent categories above it. In other words, a page or category should rarely be placed in both a category and a subcategory or parent category (supercategory) of that category..." I reverted this edit: [1]. Would you mind removing the "Category:British people of Turkish Cypriot descent" that you just added to the articles that are in "Category:English people of Turkish Cypriot descent"? Thanks. --IamNotU (talk) 22:29, 9 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Edit warring at Turks in Germany

edit

Hello Sseevv. You've been warned for edit warring per a complaint at the noticeboard. You are risking a block the next time you revert the article unless you have obtained a prior consensus for your change on the article talk page. If it hard to reach agreement the steps of WP:Dispute resolution are open to you. Let me know if you have any questions. EdJohnston (talk) 05:15, 16 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi @EdJohnston: I've been waiting for two weeks for a response by the other parties on Talk:Turks in Germany but there has been no communication at all from the other side. The dispute has been about the population stats in the infobox. I have tried to explain numerous times that German statistics do not provide data on ethnic origin, but a new user still included a 2019 stat [2] - which has been misunderstood/misrepresented in the infobox (i.e. it only includes 1st and 2nd generation with a migration background from Turkey - regardless of ethnicity - and excludes 3rd, 4th and 5th generation Turkish Germans, as well as ethnic Turkish people with a migration background from the Balkans, Cyprus and the Levant). This really does need to be addressed correctly. Can you please advice what I can do to avoid any form of blocking? I really do wish to move onto new projects now, but waiting for weeks with hopes of constructive compromises has prolonged this. Sseevv (talk) 14:05, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
You've made no more article talk posts since the AN3. The steps of WP:Dispute resolution are open to you. Keep in mind that a WP:Request for comment that is properly closed has decisive value in case of further dispute. The hard part is to get others to agree. If you are still waiting for anyone to engage, you might look around at other articles about X people in Y country to see how the matter is dealt with in those cases. And what types of sources have been accepted in the other articles? EdJohnston (talk) 02:58, 3 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ayşe Zeki moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Ayşe Zeki, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Copy-and-paste move

edit

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Talk:List of German people of Turkish descent a different title by copying its content and pasting the content into Talk:List of Turkish Germans. This is known as a "copy-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of Erol Kahraman

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Erol Kahraman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Egyptian people of Turkish Cypriot descent

A tag has been placed on Category:Egyptian people of Turkish Cypriot descent indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 04:52, 9 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
