January 2021 edit

Your recent editing history at Robbie Keane shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. I have warned both editors about 3RR and have fully protected the page for 3 days to allow everybody to discuss changes on the article talk page. GiantSnowman 15:40, 18 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Many thanks for your email, in which you admit you are Mr Keane's publicist. Please note that we have a conflict of interest policy for editors, which applies to all. I appreciate Mr Keane's concerns about the content of the article - such concerns (should they ever arise again) can be raised at WP:BLPN for editors to look into it. As it stands I suggest you start a discussion at Talk:Robbie Keane and see if we can agree a way forward. GiantSnowman 16:55, 18 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you GiantSnowman. I shall familiarise myself with WP:BLPN. Sportcorrection (talk) 17:01, 18 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest edit

Hi there. I notice you've been using the construction {{conn}} in edit summaries on the Robbie Keane article. A couple of things - the double open-and-closing curly brackets is how we insert templates onto pages on Wikipedia. However, you can't insert a template in an edit summary, it has no effect at all and just appears as whatever text you entered, in the page's history. Secondly, the {{conn}} template is supposed to be used to highlight that an editor has a connection to the subject of an article. If this is the case, please be aware of our policy on conflicts of interest. If you confirm that you do have a connection, you may still edit, but in accordance with that policy. You should also edit the talk page, per the instructions to be found at Template:conn, to list yourself as a connected editor. Regards, BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 18:04, 28 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your advice. I've made the edit to list as a connected editor. I hope I've done this correctly! I'm sorry I'm so new to this. It's all overwhelming! Sportcorrection (talk) 13:28, 1 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
