May 2024 edit

Hello, I'm Arjayay. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to the main body of Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real. Generally, any relevant external links should be listed in an "External links" section at the end of the article and meet the external links guidelines. Links within the body of an article should be internal Wikilinks. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 12:38, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the help and heads up. I appreciate it! Spinningbeads (talk) 01:33, 8 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Welcome! edit

Hello, Spinningbeads, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, visit the Teahouse, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Hi Spinningbeads. Two things make me wonder here. The article has a highly promotional tone, in terms of word choice, and I'm about to remove a few examples. Second, there is way too much (resume-style) unverified material here. Please see WP:V and WP:RS. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 20:45, 16 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Okay, slow down little, please.
First, how do you send a message to a user, like you did here to me? I'm new and I tried to figure out how to send you a message when I undid your removal.
Next, you are correct that I am a new contributor; however, I have absolutely no association whatsoever with Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real. I am simply an avid and fairly new fan with time on my hands as I am retired. When I looked up the band on Wiki, the article was undeveloped, so I thought it would be a good project for me to focus on, as I enjoy writing.
I have spent a lot of time researching the band's history. And, most importantly, I believe, is that I have been reading many Wiki articles about successful and rising bands. My efforts have been heavily influenced by what I've seen in these articles, and I've tried to keep my language and tone similar to those. I've made it a point to read articles labeled as "good" or "feature" on Wiki to help me, as well.
Please stop undoing my work and give me the chance to revise it. Spinningbeads (talk) 20:58, 16 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Also, I thought my understanding of contributing was correct, that volunteers were encouraged to edit existing articles. I am only adding material to an existing article, so I didn't realize that I should be submitting my work for review before publishing. Spinningbeads (talk) 21:02, 16 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
You simply write on a user's talk page just like you did on yours. No, there is no "review" process; you simply edit and then we'll see. But content needs to be verified by reliance on secondary sources. There's not a single reliable secondary source, or even an unreliable primary source, that verifies that they opened for the Rolling Stones. Article writing needs to start with the sources... Drmies (talk) 21:09, 16 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
My impression is that references are better included in the narrative of the article, not in the summary. I describe their appearances (or will shortly) associated with the Stones in the main body of the article and include citation there. I'll be happy to put citation where it is first mentioned. Thanks. Spinningbeads (talk) 21:13, 16 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
The summary, the lead, should contain only a summary of the main article; if the claim is not verified in the main text, it shouldn't be in the lead... Verify it in the main text, not in the lead. Drmies (talk) 21:15, 16 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Can you expand on the issue with my username? Your note says something about multiple users, as well as cautioning against user names that imply corporate association? I am the only user of my account. Not sure I understand why it sounds corporate at all. Help me out here a little.
Thank you for your time and patience, by the way. Spinningbeads (talk) 21:06, 16 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your guidance.
Please let me know if I have allayed your concerns about any affiliations I may have regarding this article. And please be more specific with concerns/recommendations about the nuances of my username. Do you recommend that I change it?
Also, let me know if you intend to continue to your overview of my work here, and if so, I'll simply forward my material to you for comment before I publish it in the article.

I already indicated that there is no concern with your username. I will accept you're just a fan--but I will remind you that the requirement for neutrality should be taken seriously. No, please do not ask me to review material, though I will be happy to help you improve the article. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 23:01, 16 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I will do my best. Thanks. Spinningbeads (talk) 02:57, 17 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
