Paris-Brest railway

edit

Hi, thanks for adding the article and diagram template for the Paris-Brest railway. It was about time someone added articles about the main railways in France, somehow most seem to be interested in touristic railways. If you don't mind, I would like to modify the template: add (active) branch lines and collapsible sections (see {{Paris-Lille railway diagram}} for example), translate French terms into English, and remove details like power distributors (sous-stations) and minor viaducts and rivers. For the main article, an infobox like at Paris–Lille railway could be nice. Do you have access to sources other than French wikipedia? I found a few nice 19th century books about the development of French railways on Google Books, we could use those for this article as well. Markussep Talk 10:55, 1 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi, no problem; I just did this simple diagram, but you can make a better one. I just thought that a main railway than Paris - Brest had to have the page in english (like many others main railway); It's just because I'm from Brittany ;) --Spendeau (talk) 15:04, 1 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Great! I'll expand the Paris-Brest article and template then. I'm surprised even the line Paris-Marseille is missing, but we do have the Tramway du Cap-Ferret ;-) So what's next, fr:Ligne Savenay - Landerneau? Markussep Talk 15:28, 1 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Nope, maybe a less dificult one like ...fr:Ligne Plouaret - Lannion --Spendeau (talk) 16:21, 1 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Ligne Plouaret - Lannion looks good. I prefer to use arrows for branch lines ("CONT" variants in the BS templates), apparently French wikipedia uses the dotted "LUECKE" lines. I started a discussion about article titles for French railways, because I don't think the present rule "Ligne de X - Y" is suitable for English wikipedia, I propose "X–Y railway". See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject France#Railway stations. Better start the discussion at an early stage ;-). Markussep Talk 09:32, 3 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I'm ok with you; I prepare the line rennes st malo and i started to put x-y railway; I'll use the "CONT" too--Spendeau (talk) 09:49, 3 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
I've changed the preferred article title at WP:MOS-FR to "Xxx–Yyy railway". I'll start moving articles and updating links. Ligne de Rennes - Saint-Malo looks nice! Note that English Wikipedia uses a point as decimal marker (see WP:MOS#Decimal separator), so Rennes is at km 373.250, not 373,250. Markussep Talk 17:25, 9 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Marseille-Ventimiglia

edit

Hi, I saw you started the Marseille–Ventimiglia railway, that's quite far from your usual playground ;-) I'm going to give the railway diagram a try, see if I can come up with something more user-friendly than the French wikipedia version. Markussep Talk 15:55, 11 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi, it's OK, it's difficult sometimes for me to "change" (or ameliorate) the french version! About my usual playground, I try to create the most important lines to complete the existing created lines. If you have nothing to do after, I thought about Rémilly-Saarbrucken line to complete the LGV Est and the Mannheim-Saarbrucken lines ;)
Good idea, I already modified the LGV Est template to show the connections towards Saarbrücken, Metz and Strasbourg. Three other high priority lines for me are Bordeaux-Irun, Narbonne-Portbou and Lyon-Geneva. Markussep Talk 16:21, 12 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
{{Rémilly-Saarbrücken railway diagram}} ready. Markussep Talk 19:03, 12 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi. When you recently edited TER Bourgogne, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Clamecy and Chagny (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
