My bad, meant to edit, not delete.

Hello, I'm Eggishorn. I wanted to let you know that some of your recent contributions to Joe Carollo have been reverted or removed because they could seem to be defamatory or libellous. Take a look at our welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 13:53, 17 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Every single one of those edits is based on a mainstream news story. I'm reverting it. Spelunkingmerica (talk) 17:01, 17 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button   located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 17:13, 17 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Just to be clear. Everything in the Carollo entry was based on mainstream stories. This person has a pre-internet past that is shocking, but in the mid-1990s a story in the Orlando Sentinel that wasn't reprinted would never make it to the general public. The Miami Herald story cited repeatedly is available to subscribers and by Nexis subscription and contains a timeline of events and it's a story about him beating his wife and getting arrested for doing so while he was the Mayor.Spelunkingmerica (talk) 17:42, 17 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Just to be equally clear: Read the policy links you've been given. Just because something was published does not make the content added to that article OK. Use the talk page of that article to propose and discuss changes. The WP:BLP policy is very strict and the owners of this web site are not required to allow publication or observe free speech arguments. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 17:46, 17 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

You'll get no "free speech" argument from me. I understand that there are rules and this isn't the government.

However, in a stub article. I didn't know that talk was required. I'll add my edits to the talk page now.

100% of the material comes from mainstream publications who wrote lengthy profiles of this subject's domestic abuse, racism, and his allegations of racism against others because they were controversial topics, but all in the pre-internet era. It's important to note that stories about him are non-partisan because his office is non-partisan, but politics aside, all of these stories are factual from the news and rephrased only slightly to make them readable in the context of an entry, but the original Herald story listed them all by year from 1979-2000.

Thank you for your patience.
