Hello Spellchecker. My name is KnowledgeOfSelf on Wikipedia, but you can call me Steve if you'd like. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. I just stopped by to say hi and formally welcome you to Wikipedia.

Here are a few good links for newcomers. I know that they can be boring, but I recommend that you take a look at them:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! You can come to my talk page if you have any questions. If I can help I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Or you can go to, Wikipedia:Where to ask a question. Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes this will automatically produce your name and the date. Again, welcome! Have fun! What you're doing is wrong!

Wikipedia policy permits and encourages the use of both American and British English. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style#National_varieties_of_English. It's not OK to go through articles en masse and change them to your preferred dialect. --FOo 08:47, 13 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Just as an indicator of how this can cause problems -- You created a cyclical redirect at Axiomatisable class. I've fixed it to point to where the article is. Please take this as a warning -- don't run a bot or otherwise automatically change articles without due care. --FOo 08:50, 13 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

WP:BOTS

edit

Hi there. I understand and appreciate your concern for spelling accuracy on Wikipedia, however as Fubar Obfusco has pointed out, disregarding existing spelling conventions on articles is potentially quite disruptive. Furthermore, if you have a look at WP:BOTS, you will notice that prior permission is required for the use of bots (whether manually assisted or fully automated). Please consider taking a step back, as further contributions might result in your being temporarily blocked in light of this policy. MC MasterChef :: Leave a tip 09:18, 13 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Please be aware of Spellchecker bot policy: Wikipedia:Bots#Spell-checking_bots. We do not allow automated spellchecker bots. We do allow manually-assisted spellchecker bots so long as their dictionary of words include both US and international spelling, and does not change words that are written a certain way, such as proper names and romanji. --AllyUnion (talk) 13:39, 13 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Do NOT change UK/US spelling!

Thanks for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks. --R.Koot 12:32, 13 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

User:Oleg Alexandrov already runs a similar bot (User:Mathbot) on the mathematics articles, which does not make incorrect spelling changes. --R.Koot 12:38, 13 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Stop indeed

edit

Yes sir, it seems that all your edits got reverted, and very fast. The spellchecking business is a big can of worms. Never again. :) Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 19:25, 13 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Block

edit

Hi, I've blocked this account because it's going around changing American spelling to British, in all kinds of articles that have nothing to do with the UK. Is this a person or a bot, and can you say what the account's intentions are? I'm happy to unblock so long as these spelling changes stop, unless the article is closely related to the UK, in which case British spelling is appropriate. You can either post here about it, or if you prefer, feel free to e-mail me using the link on my user page. Cheers, SlimVirgin (talk) 13:26, 14 November 2005 (UTC)Reply
