Welcome! edit

Hello, SpeakersBureau200167, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, visit the Teahouse, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! January 2024 edit

Hi SpeakersBureau200167! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Claudette Colvin several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Claudette Colvin, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 02:18, 21 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring, as you did at Claudette Colvin. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  DMacks (talk) 07:01, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Admin note: in addition to simple edit-warring (and declaring intent to continue such; see also User:108.18.25.74) some of the edits themselves are unacceptable on their face, such as changing cited quotes. DMacks (talk) 07:04, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Also legal threats in edit summaries, by the way. 97.113.16.33 (talk) 13:16, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for that, IP. @SpeakersBureau200167:, when your block expires and if you wish to return to editing, your very first order of business must be to clearly and unambiguously rescind those threats. You will not be permitted to edit Wikipedia while such threats are pending. I'll post the standard message about it momentarily. DMacks (talk) 15:04, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
They are not threats. I need to have the page protected. How can I do that? SpeakersBureau200167 (talk) 16:14, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
You did threaten legal action, presumably against me. You said "Please do not misinterpret what Rosa Parks or Claudette said. It was Claudette’s case who went to court - and Rosa Parks who led the movement. If this edit keeps being altered, legal action may need to be sought. Thank you." In the edit associated with that summary, you changed a direct quote. I am concerned, since you don't recognize the issues with such conduct, that you'll behave similarly once unblocked. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 16:39, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Okay. SpeakersBureau200167 (talk) 17:22, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Still would like to how the page can be protected. Thank you. SpeakersBureau200167 (talk) 17:22, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Your recent edits could give Wikipedia contributors the impression that you may consider legal or other "off-wiki" action against them, or against Wikipedia itself. Please note that making such threats on Wikipedia is strictly prohibited under Wikipedia's policies on legal threats and civility. Users who make such threats may be blocked. If you have a dispute with the content of any page on Wikipedia, please follow the proper channels for dispute resolution. Please be sure to comment on content, not contributors, and where possible make specific suggestions for changes supported by reliable independent sources and focusing especially on verifiable errors of fact. Thank you. DMacks (talk) 15:04, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

We need the page protected. Please advise on how to do this SpeakersBureau200167 (talk) 16:16, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
As previously advised, you are not permitted to edit or discuss anything else with legal threats pending. DMacks (talk) 17:33, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Nothing is pending. It has been 24 hours. SpeakersBureau200167 (talk) 00:11, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

You are not allowed to edit Wikipedia while the threats stand or the legal action is unresolved.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  DMacks (talk) 17:30, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
DMacks - I’m not sure what legal threats you’re referring to? What is not resolved? Thank you. SpeakersBureau200167 (talk) 00:14, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
As three editors have said (including with links and explanation) you made legal threats. You have not explicitly and completely rescinded those threats. Therefore those threats are still pending. Therefore (again, as you have been told several times), you are not permitted to edit this site at all. DMacks (talk) 00:43, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Kindly please let me know how to resolve the threats and they will be removed. SpeakersBureau200167 (talk) 01:52, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
You have to say, in your own words, that you completely rescind all those threats of legal action that you will not make any more such in the future. DMacks (talk) 18:03, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
