Climax (figure of speech)

Absolutely. Good removal. Articles do tend to accrete somewhat pedantic additions which disturb their balance and focus. Passers-by will think "Oh, what can I put in there?" without concern for the whole. I haven't researched the history, but that sentence looked like such an addition. Google books is not the only valid source

Just a friendly heads up. I've noticed that you were using exclusively Google Books sources in editing sequel, even going so far as to delete entire sections under the rationale that there was no Google Books citation available.

Citations on Wikipedia do need to be from reliable sources, but they do not necessarily need to be found in books, and definitely are not restricted to the subset of books that can be found via Google Books.

Syncatabasis proposed deletion

Your deletion template was removed, so don't add it back. Take it to AfD if you must. Or better yet, find a valid merge target for the stub where the term can be treated in context. It the term is in CathEnc, Wikipedia has reason to cover it, but this does not necessarily need to happen on a standalone page, it just means that the link Syncatabasis should point somewhere where the term is explained.

If you can find a typology of catachreses in a reliable third-party source, please feel free to include it in the article. Also, a small suggestion on citations: you have included links to all the definitions on Google Books. This is excellent and very helpful. However, since the Google Books index consists of scanned copies of published books, it would be useful to fully cite the source with author/editor, year of publication, publisher, page number and ISBN number. The only tool I am aware of for mass converting bare URL:s is Webreflinks, and that seems to be adjusted for web references only. However, I now use reftag for conversion of Google Books links into a beautiful Wikipedia citation, but it only works for one link at a time (as far as I know). --Spannerjam 07:58, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

Lyrics in Circumlocution

Hello! I noticed you added the complete lyrics to "That's what she said by Tejbz and Gwitha" to the article circumlocution a few weeks back. Surely the song illustrates the concepts of ambiguity and innuendo, but I'm not sure this justifies their inclusion in full or at all. The song does not appear to be particularly well-known or culturally significant nor academically relevant to the concepts, no citation was provided, and there is no indication that they are in the public domain per WP:Song#Lyrics. A tip

I've reverted a change you made to Chekhov's gun, replacing "i.e." with "for example" as this changed the meaning.

Though the abbreviations are for Latin terms, I find it helpful to think of "e.g." as meaning "example given" - a beverage (e.g., tea or orange juice); and "i.e." as meaning "in other words" - the most widely consumed beverage (i.e., water). HTH. - SummerPhD (talk) 23:55, 24 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi Spannerjam. When you propose the merging of two pages, you need to post tags on both pages, and point them to a talk page section arguing for the merge. In the case of conjunction fallacy and base rate fallacy, I think you have misunderstood: although there's an overlap, they are different concepts with their own literatures. Working on inaccessible material

Hi again Spannerjam. I don't know if you agree, but I think the collaboration between us is working well. You have picked a really fascinating group of articles to work on, though they have been written in an unintelligible way, and on the whole I welcome your bold changes to make them more readable.

As I hope you've seen from my edits, it is often possible to take a paragraph that is impenetrable and reword it so that non-experts can understand it. So I don't think it's always necessary to delete sections just because they are hard to understand. I think a compromise would be that when you make an edit that removes a lot of content, such as this or this, you could copy and paste the deleted text to the Talk page of the relevant article. (I'll do this for the two articles I've just linked). That way, the work that has gone into finding those relevant sources is not lost, and editors like me are prompted to find ways to improve the text, but readers are saved from excessively technical text.

Rewriting a whole article is often a lot of work, but when there is a crucial paragraph, or just a few sentences that need to be made understandable, I don't mind being nudged for advice. Again, the Talk page of the relevant article is usually the best place to do this, but I don't mind being asked on my Talk. Best wishes, MartinPoulter (talk) 13:23, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

The <nowiki> tags

Hello. I corrected your references in bizarreness effect. You may have copied the code for creating the references from an Edit view of a Wikipedia how-to page instead of from the Read view, and left <nowiki> and </nowiki> tags whose purpose is, precisely, to cause codes that normally have special significance in Wikipedia to be displayed as text, as with {{something}} and [[something]]. Hi! I edited in Visual editor. I don't how to use Reftag in combination with Visual Editor without yielding the result within Nowiki-tags. My Visual Edits were not shown in the log because they were made in my Sandbox. School segregation in the U.S. edits

Hello! I've been working on the article School segregation in the United States, and I see that you added a banner noting some problems with the formatting of my inline citations. I've adjusted some of the citations, but I'm not sure whether I fixed the problem you were pointing out. I was trying to use inline citations wherever possible to avoid issues with close paraphrasing or plagiarism. Would it be OK if I removed the banner now? Thanks! First of all let me tell you that your citations look very well for a newcomer. Much better than mine did when I was "pretty new". What could be improved is that you could hide the bare URL:s who in my opinion make the references look naked. This can be achieved by using this template [http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/ World of Warcraft] which would yield World of Warcraft. You could also add an URL parameter to the Cite Web and Cite Journal references. If it was not for personal reasons I would beautify the references myself. I hope this information helped though. Stubs

Hallo, I don't agree that Fad is a stub, but more importantly the Stub template doesn't take parameters, even if Visual Editor encourages you to add them! There are specific stub templates like {{sociology-stub}}, but not parameters for {{stub}}. I think the addition of templates in VE is quite confusing, as it persists in offering invalid options to mislead the editor. PamD 16:20, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
