August 2020 edit

Hello SpaceHostess22. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Draft:Space Perspective, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:SpaceHostess22. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=SpaceHostess22|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. If you have a conflict of interest or are being paid for the article, please state that. If you don't, please also state that here. Sam-2727 (talk) 22:36, 6 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello Sam-2727! Thank you for reaching out. I can assure you that I did not intentionally go against any Wiki policy as I thought I followed the instructions by posting this information regarding Draft:Space Perspective through the articles for creation process as I am close to the source and the article did not previously exist. I welcome any direction you have so that I can be compliant in my suggesting this new company as a candidate for a Wiki entry. Thank you, SpaceHostess22!

SpaceHostess22, you did follow that part of the policy correctly. "Close to the source" sounds like a conflict of interest, which you should declare following the instructions at WP:DISCLOSE. Sam-2727 (talk) 19:29, 8 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia's conflict of interest guideline edit

  Hello, SpaceHostess22. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted.

Please answer this question clearly, yes or no: Are you being paid or compensated in any way for editing Wikipedia?

If you are being paid or compensated, as Sam-2727 explained, and as this notice reiterates, you are required to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. This is not optional. Thank you. BlackcurrantTea (talk) 09:59, 13 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest, again edit

Hello. I see that you've been editing today. You still haven't answered the question regarding compensation for editing. If you choose not to answer, it is possible you will be blocked from editing further.

Please answer this question clearly, yes or no: Are you being paid or compensated in any way for editing Wikipedia? BlackcurrantTea (talk) 03:49, 22 January 2021 (UTC) I have not been compensated for making edits on Wikipedia. SpaceHostess22 (talk) 03:12, 25 January 2021 (UTC) I have listed my COIs on my user page and will be sure to place a notice of COI in all future edit summaries. SpaceHostess22 (talk) 03:34, 25 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for answering that, and for adding the COI notices to your user page. Please review the conflict of interest guideline. We ask that editors with a conflict of interest propose changes to articles on the talk page and discuss them before editing the article. It's acceptable to make factual, non-controversial changes yourself - fixing a spelling error, updating a company's address, or updating figures with a reference to a reliable source. For examples of how this works, see Talk:Dell Medical School and Talk:Jeff Clarke (businessman). If you have any questions about these procedures, or about editing, please visit the help desk. Thank you, and happy editing. BlackcurrantTea (talk) 17:58, 25 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Much appreciated and will do. Thank you! SpaceHostess22 (talk) 05:42, 26 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

On SpaceIndustryMod's talk page, you said that you 'will no longer be requesting edits on any of the pages which I have a COI.' Would you please explain what you mean? You haven't been making edit requests; you've been editing the article. What are you planning to do, or not do? BlackcurrantTea (talk) 12:10, 5 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

I would like to simply retire my account and no longer be a contributor. SpaceHostess22 (talk) 05:10, 6 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ok. The only requirement is to stop editing. If you'd like, you can add {{retired}} to your user page and the top of this page to let people know that you plan to completely and permanently stop editing. There are options for changing the text or adding your own message; for instructions, click on the word 'retired' there. If you have any questions in the meantime, I'll keep your talk page on my watchlist for a while. My schedule is somewhat unpredictable; you can also go to the Help desk for assistance. Your draft article, Draft:Space Perspective edit

Hello, SpaceHostess22. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Space Perspective".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Space Perspective edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Space Perspective, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
