This is just a friendly reminder that Wikipedia Weekly has been released with a new episode!

For the first time in well, over a month, we've put something together. We've been a little busy / the tubes of the internets crashed so apologies on the delay. We're finally back to normal, we hope....

Anyways, all is good now, here's the new episodes!

As always you can download old episodes and more at http://wikipediaweekly.com/!

Please spread the word about Wikipedia Weekly, we're trying to spread the word so that people know about the project, we've got some cool guests lined up and it makes it much more fun if people tune in!

Custard pie

edit

Hi. I noticed that you did a revert on this article. I've tried to get the user to discuss their edits on the article talk page or their own talk page and they just ignore me. They won't use edit summaries or explain why they feel a reader needs half a dozen pictures to understand the concept of a custard pie to the face. Most, if not all, of the pictures are of dubious copyright status. Now they're increasing the size to one of those pictures so that it is 900px, dominating the article. Is this vandalism? janejellyroll 04:33, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I see you're looking for sources for this term. I can tell you that the word "careerist" was a fairly common insult in the (UK) Labour Party in 1980s. It was intended to impugn the political commitment and honesty of the person at whom it was aimed. BTLizard 16:04, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hey there, I was wondering if we should send a message to all the folks listed as adopters and let them know that we are looking for input on the program. I looked at the program page and talk page history and see that there are several people who have been involved in the past that haven't weighed in on the ideas we've floated. I don't want to bypass anyone who has an interest and possible input. Just something simple that let's them know there is some new activity. Something like...

Hi there,

The Adopt-a-User program is looking for new ideas and input on the program. If you are interested, please stop by the talk page and read some of the ideas being floated and give a comment. If you want to update or change your information on the adopter's list page, now would be a great time! Thanks!

RE: Adopter gone incommunicado

edit

Thanks so much for your response. I apologize for my slow one. My adopter and I had been working on an article for The Hitachi Foundation, which was nominated for deletion by a user because it was "plagiarized." Being new to Wikipedia, I did not know that I couldn't just copy and paste information about The Foundation from their website into the article. Based on the standard of "good faith," my adopter and the user who nominated the article for deletion came to the conclusion that if I worked on a new article with cited sources and such, it could be placed on the Deletion Review page (I think that's what it is called...where the community votes on whether it should be reposted as a valid article or the deletion should be upheld?) My adopter, Lethaniol, had agreed to take a look at the article before it was put up under the Deletion Review page to make sure everything was in order and that it was formatted right and didn't violate any norms or standards. The article is posted here: [[3]]. Thanks so much for your help. If you can't help with this, I would be willing to find a new adopter. Julieatrci 20:34, 14 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks so much for your help and detailed response. I'll read it over, process it, and start making those changes. I'm very relieved to find out that I don't have to go through the Deletion Review process!Julieatrci 13:23, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I am so glad that you would be so kind as to adopt me. For a confirmation of your adoption, pls leave a message on my talk page. If you would adopt me, please show me how to make userboxes and to post comments. I also would like to know the advantage/advantages of signatures. I am a great fan of Naruto, Full Metal Alchemist & Harry Potter. I am hoping to hear from you soon!-- User:kisses4roselle

How do I incorporate userboxes on my userpage? I've been reading a lot of stuff about userbox migration but I can't figure out how to apply it. Can't I just simply copy/paste userbox templates on my userpage? What will happen if i just copy/paste it? Are there available templates that' easier to attach to my userpage? Also, is it ok if I just use a signature instead of my username? Please advise.-- Storm7 10:22, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
I was able to fix my signature so it seems to link with my userpage now. Is it ok if I use a different signature/nickname from that of my username? I'm still having problems with userboxes using transclusion because I really don't know where to start or what to do first. I figure that before I can contribute to anything at all, I could start by fixing my userpage first. I'd really appreciate any assistance. Thanks! -- Storm7 04:50, 9 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
I did a bold move and put up some userboxes on my userpage. I would like to ask if you could please check to see if I made any awful mistakes or if I at least managed to put it up correctly. What I did was copy/paste it from some pages because I can't figure out how to move or migrate them. Hoping to hear from you soon. Storm7 13:43, 16 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hitachi Foundation article

edit

So, I cleaned it up and did the footnotes like you suggested, but when I click on a reference, it doesn't link to the actual reference that I typed up. Is that just because I haven't made it an actual page yet? Or am I missing a step in the footnoting process. As of right now, I have only put [1] around the footnotes. Any suggestions? Thanks! Julieatrci 15:02, 31 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

No worries. It actually forced me to figure it out on my own, so I added the references section myself and posted the article. Thanks so much for your help! I really appreciate you stepping in with advice and tips. Julieatrci 13:48, 6 June 2007 (UTC) Reply
