Image Tagging Image:Naak2sm.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Naak2sm.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Shanel 22:48, 2 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Image:PrincessandCardinal.jpg edit

Don't you have a bigger version of that photo? It would also serve as a good illustration for the article on Cardinal Kitbunchu himself, which is currently without photo, however for future printed versions higher resolution photos would be much better. Also, as your photos would also fit for the wikipedias in other languages, it is probably better to move them to Wikipedia:Commons, our repository of free images (and other multimedia).

BTW: In case you haven't found it yet, there's also the Wikipedia:Thailand-related topics notice board, where the Wikipedians from or interested in Thailand meet. andy 08:17, 30 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

I will post a bigger version of that photo as soon as I can dig the original out of our files. It was taken before all our files went digital. - Somtow

Inquestor edit

Really enjoyed the Inquestor stories in the mid-1980s. Even have "Fire from the Wine-Dark Sea" somewhere under this pile of books ("Sunsteps" was seriously weird, but in an interesting way...) AnonMoos 08:58, 6 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Non-free use disputed for Image:Vjn.jpg edit

  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Vjn.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 11:24, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use Image:Naak2sm.jpg edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Naak2sm.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 17:53, 10 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Somtow edit

Thank you for The Shattered Horse. I read it many years ago (several times) and feel that its robust spirit helped to drive some of the changes in my early life.

Fiddling for Waterbuffalos? edit

Story: Archaeologists dig up an object in Isan that they break in trying to figure out what it is. It was an intergalactic space beacon, and its owners are pissed. Locals not impressed -- aliens pop into Isan all the time [I'm one] and, if they mind their manners, are welcome -- don't have to conform to local customs, either, just show a bit of respect. The ETs didn't, a local stole the beacon and held it for ransom. When the ransom was paid, the local turned over -- a knockoff, keeping the original. Would that be Fiddling for Waterbuffalos, Analog, April 1986?

BTW, representatives of Thailand's Fine Arts Department are ETs in these parts, too. While unearthing the original That Glong Khao Noi Kaa Mae ธาตุก่องข้าวน้อย บ้านสะเดา, they found an unusual Buddha image at the Wat of the Field. They had a copy made for the yokels and think they have the original in Bangkok. Wanna bet? Pawyilee (talk) 17:10, 31 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

This file is missing evidence of permission. It is sourced to someone other than the uploader, or to an external site which the uploader claims to represent or own, and while a copyright tag has been applied, there is no proof that the author agreed to license the file under the given license. Unless a link to a webpage with an explicit permission is provided, or an email from the copyright owner is sent or forwarded to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, the image will be deleted after Saturday, 24 March 2012. Please remove this template if a link to a webpage with an explicit permission is provided, or a tag with a volunteer response team ticket number has been added. --Pawyilee (talk) 13
