Shuttle Model Image

edit

I saw your upload of the electron testing of the space shuttle model, and I believe it is worthy of featured picture status except that it needs to be on some of the shuttle-related pages, and it does not meet the size requirements. However, there are two larger versions on your source page, and I was wondering what your reasoning for uploading the smaller version was. It's a beautiful picture that should be on several articles, but I'd like to get the larger version. Thanks. Somedaypilot (talk) 17:33, 14 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I only took the smaller image because that seemed sufficient for the Electron article. But I can't think of any reason not to load a larger version if you feel like it. Possibly it could also go somewhere on the Space Shuttle thermal protection system and Plasma (physics) articles. Thanks.—RJH (talk) 17:44, 14 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

re: How to initiate discussion for blocking an IP user

edit

Hey there Dan, got your message, I'm really sorry it took me so long to respond. If you wish to initiate discussion regarding blocking a user you should post a detailed message at WP:ANI, the administrator's incidents noticeboard. Another method to effect a block on a vandal who has received sufficient warning is to report the user at WP:AIV, which is the Administrator intervention against vandalism page. If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask and I promise I will reply right away next time. :) -- œ 09:02, 16 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

AIV

edit

Hello. I declined your report to AIV because the IP editor hasn't edited in about 6 days and, due to the anonymous nature of IP editors, they must be actively vandalizing to be blocked. Also, the warning on their talkpage is for something from over two months ago. You might want to read Wikipedia:Vandalism to learn how to effectively deal with it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Thanks! —DoRD (?) (talk) 22:17, 16 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi DoRD, thanks for responding. I understand that normally a week old edit and a three month old warning are stale, but there are circumstances which make this a possibility for an exception, in my opinion. The user has not made a single edit without some form of content inappropriate for Wikipedia. I can't tell if some of his edits were good faith or not but some definitely completely destructive. The user has been warned but makes edits infrequently. I am not on Wikipedia myself frequently enough to catch the rare occasion when he does vandalize something, and as I am still learning about Wikipedia myself it took me awhile after I noticed his Conan controversy edit to find out how to get someone to notice him. I'm not sure that he has even read the warnings, but if he has another "final" warning seems like more enabling of what can no longer be assumed good faith. I think a TEMPORARY block would be enough to get him to notice the messages, see that what he is doing is not constructive, and in the meantime we can show him that we are ready to welcome him as a constructive editor once he acknowledges the messages. We don't block IPs for much more than a couple of days except in extreme circumstances, so owing to the user's infrequent edits, they'd likely not be affected by the block. If you feel that the edits are problematic enough, consider making a report at WP:ANI where it will receive more scrutiny. Cheers —DoRD (?) (talk) 01:22, 17 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi, yes, you would do well to take your ideas on improving the article to the article's Talk page. You've heard my opinion. Others may differ. HiLo48 (talk) 06:24, 14 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

A cup of coffee for you!

Thank you for creating Smoking and Health: Report of the Advisory Committee to the Surgeon General of the United States. You did an awesome job in any case, but I am particularly impressed that you were a new editor when you did that. Fantastic! I really appreciate it. Well thank you very much! I'm still not as active as I would like to be, and that seems to have become my opus magnum, at least so far. I submitted a request for feedback here way back when that does a pretty good job of explaining my thinking. It seems to have done pretty well over the years. If at any time between now and forever you write another article or need assistance in any other way then write to me and I will review what you do or otherwise help you. This article is useful to me and I am glad to have found it. Blue Rasberry (talk) 13:18, 14 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
