WeRelate, Rodovid, and Wikimedia edit

There's a great deal of interest in collaborative genealogy, and it is a natural fit for a wiki model. I'd like to see WeRelate (or equivalent site!) become the predominant way people gather and search for genealogy information, as opposed to the various closed sites and models out there. And Rodovid is currently the most popular proposal for a new project on our meta-wiki. Are you still interested in working with Wikimedia somehow? I think we could do a lot to channel traffic to a single unified free genealogy site, regardless of where it is hosted. And I'd also love to see WeRelate become ad-free...

Sorry didn't see this message until today. WeRelate is the largest non-profit genealogy wiki in the world. We would love to work with you in some way. We are not enamored with the ads, however as a non-profit we don't sell anything. We also do not get enough donations to keep the machines turned on. Our chief problem is funding. As you can tell I don't check this page very often. You can contact me at solveig@quass.org Thanks for your interest. --sq
